Do they even pray? What do they say? [1]

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the right and their rampant hypocrisy, mendacity, bigotry, cowardice, malice, stupidity, know-nothingism, cruelty, dishonesty, cynicism, ignorance, spite, scapegoating, intolerance, paranoia, tribalism, revisionism, zealotry, conspiracy-mongering, plutocracy, kakistocracy, sadism, demagoguery, authoritarian bootlicking, jingoism, chauvinism, xenophobia, nativism, cultism, idol worship, historical amnesia, selective morality, shameless opportunism, weaponised nostalgia, permanent bad faith, law-and-order lawlessness, performative patriotism…….I can do this all day……, but I’ll end with sham religiosity.

That is a long list and probably not even complete. So feel free to add more in the comments. I wrote a diary not long after the shooting in Lewiston, Maine in October 2023 that talked about how Americans live with an ever-present feeling that a mass shooting could take place at any time and any place. It’s a sad diary entry but I still feel what I wrote is probably true. And since mass shootings have become so frequent and commonplace in American society, I will forgive you if you didn’t even remember Lewiston. That is how far we have fallen. We forget them now. A shooting that happened less than two years ago and killed more people than Columbine has become just another thing that happens sometimes in the United States. What can you do? I would put the shrug emoji if I knew how. Of course, I am being snarky. It’s all very tragic.

Which brings me back to my list. It seems incredible to me that so many people on the right encompass some or all of those attributes. And then they have the gall to get angry when we demand more than their thoughts and prayers when shootings happen. How dare we mock prayer when horrible things happen?! The recent shooting in Minnesota brought the customary call for thoughts and prayers and I started to really think about whether or not these people even pray for the dead. What do their prayers say? “Dear God. Please look after the dead children that were shot..” Is it something like that? I don’t pray so I am not sure what one has to do but I don’t think the people that encompass the list above would ever pray for people. Because why would they? They just don’t seem the type. So jdvance can say whatever he wants but I highly doubt he gets down on his knees and prays to God over the loss of dead children that he has never shown to fight for in his life. To fight for the right to live and go to school on the first week after summer and not get shot down and murdered. Him and the rest of that cadre of morons showing their sham religiosity is stunning. And don’t any of you ever stop calling them out on it. They can whine and cry about being mocked for their prayers, but when that is the only thing they to offer, they deserve it. And again, let’s be real. Do they pray for dead? Or do they only say it on the socials to show they care? Because I can almost guarantee most of these fools have never actually done it.

Keep fighting the good fight. Add to the list, and check out that diary link above. Nice to see you all.
