You’ve put me in the awkward position of having to defend Henry Kissinger, my friend. Kissinger and Le Duc Tho of Vietnam were both awarded the NPP for the Paris Peace Talks. Le Duc Tho declined the award, since peace was never achieved. Kissinger did not attend the award ceremony, donated the prize money to charity, and later offered to return his medal after the fall of South Vietnam. For better or worse, Kissinger put in the work. Trump is just phoning it in. He thinks Twitter diplomacy and overtly campaigning is enough to earn the NPP. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I watched it unfold over dinner every evening as the national and world news came over the top of whatever dinner was.
Oh...Right up to the day I left for Marine Corps bootcamp.
In the end it was a bunch of politicians, grown men, who were dealing with something someone else instigated/started and they really didn’t want to deal with, or how to end it.
You can’t get peace at a table halfway around the world, you have to be invested, you have to have your boots on the ground to really understand the peace needed, it is not possible to understand the needs of a foreign nation with out being among them.
They were just plain clueless and not personally invested.
Congress didn’t want to invest anymore money in a war they believed we were losing and refused to fund it. Thats how Saigon got over run and South Vietnam fell. We were winning.

Now days none of them have served in a war, some not even service to the country, obama, dump truck, vance was a writer, he served in the deadly copy room, they have nothing to judge peace against. War is a 3 letter word in a crossword puzzle to them. They have never lost stuff to war.
And turnip boy wants a NPP? Pathetic self serving loser.
We really were winning.
Ask those Iraqi and Afghani vets how to win a NPP, they understand what peace is and how we will never have it anywhere.
