Wake up Dems. It is not just Trump and Israel that are doing this in Gaza and the West Bank. [1]

It is not only Trump and Netanyahu who are doing this (for “this,” see above). All Congress would have to do to change it would be to cut off aid to Israel and pass resolutions demanding a removal of diplomatic support at the UN until Israel stopped blocking food, shooting and shelling those who seeking, banning them from fishing or bathing in the Mediterranean, destroying their hospitals, killing their doctors, banning the press; or in the West Bank, burning Palestinians fields, cars, homes, and towns and murdering their residents—on a daily basis (as reported in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz but not in American media).
If Congress did that, like magic, untold human lives would be saved. Israel could not long continue its program to destroy Palestinians and annex the West Bank and Gaza without US aid and diplomatic cover. But Congress does nothing not only because of genocidal Republicans like Representative Andy Fine, but also because of Democrats like Representative Steny Hoyer, Netanyahu’s most reliable Democratic asset in the House of Representatives. See for example, Hoyer’s joining in on the Netanyahu attack on Obama for Obama’s proposal to restart negotiations for a two-state solution, an attack on Obama led to Dems and Reps in the House giving Netanyahu 29 standing ovations for his rejectionism. Obama gave up and now Israel has de-facto annexed the West Bank, the two-state solution is on life-support if not already dead.
In an earlier posting, which I have updated, I pointed out that a June Quinnipiac poll showed that only 12% of Democrats support Israel over the Palestinians.
Only 6 members of the House of Representatives voted to cut a small portion of US deadly military aid to Israel. Two Republicans as well as Summer Lee, Rashida Tlaib, Al Greene, and Ilhan Omar. The record was less disgraceful in the senate where 15 Senators (all Democrats) voted in favor of a similar proposal. www.axios.com/...
Morality demands we change the disconnect between the Democratic voter and our “there is nothing here to see” representatives in Congress. That moral imperative is compound. First, regardless of political expediency, U.S. support for systematic crimes against humanity is wrong, period. Second, if we as a party want to stop the Republican attack on efforts to stop climate change, social justice, civil rights, the basic institutions of democracy, and human decency, we need to win elections, and if only 12% of us support our pro-Netanyahu Congressional leadership, we will fail.
The only candidate so far to challenge Netanyahu’s champion Steny Hoyer is Harry Jarrin who states he has no substantive differences with him beyond Hoyer’s age of 86. The age-issue has killed Democrats (see Joe Biden’s decision, against his previous promise, to seek reelections), but a young Steny pretending like the old Steny that Palestinians are nothing and that U.S. will pour money, arms, and diplomatic cover into a murderous regime that supports the far-right in both the U.S. and Europe is a moral and political failure.
In a district in which Democrats dominate and Republicans are unlikely to win, what is wrong with us that we do better than this.
