It’s been a busy week since the last time I helmed Top Comments.

- I had a lovely evening with my local Democratic Committee at one of our Socials… we alternate business meetings with the occasional social event at a local restaurant. Learned a great deal about what’s going on in the city and patronized a small business… win win in my book!

- I took on a volunteer project helping out with some of the behind the scenes work to ensure social media posts from Netroots Nation staff are able to be posted to the relevant sites, and will continue that work onsite next week.

- I cooked a TON of food to bring to the Celebration of Life for my father-in-law, who died in March from covid-induced pneumonia. I wanted there to be food safe for both diabetics and celiacs, and my spinach squares and orange cardamom cake were delicious for those of us who needed special food, as well as everyone else!

- I attended that Celebration of Life, and it was a lovely gathering of family and close friends remembering a very special man. I got to see some relatives who live in Texas, and wow do tweenaged boys grow fast!!

- I battled an invasion of approximately 2010402759395 teeeeny tiiiiny little grease ants, who discovered a stick of butter on the counter. In possibly related news, my kitchen is the cleanest its been in several years!

I knew I had a ridiculously busy day today, so turned in at a respectable hour to get a good night’s sleep. I dozed off for about an hour, then woke up because I drank a lot of water in the evening. And… didn’t get back to sleep until 4:30am. No brain weasels fretting over some topic or other that I could discern. The room temperature was perfect, my pillows were fluffed, and there were no distraction lights or sounds. I listened to not one but three yoga nidra guided meditations… usually I’m fast asleep halfway through just one. I read for a while, and did in fact count several sheep.

At 7am K2 got up to take his shower before work and… blasted his music loud enough to wake both Mr. Brillig and I. I’ve managed only one extra hit of caffeine over my normal, and somehow am awake to get this diary posted! But if you notice a reply in the comments that looks a lot like brzzzzzzzzzmmmzhzhhzhffffewjzzzzzzzzzmzmmzzzzzz that’s just me dozing on the keyboard!!

This time next week I’ll be packing for Netroots Nation. It looks like an utterly fantastic conference this year, and I hope to see some of you there!! I’ll be helping with the first-timers caucus and getting ready for Pub Quiz! I gotta mention one final time that you can get a virtual ticket with access to TONS of streaming content for $75.

Let’s get to tonight’s Tops!
