By now everyone knows that Columbia University has disgraced itself by further capitulation to the Trump anti-freedom agenda.

The Trump administration’s new agreement with Columbia University takes aim at a key source of revenue for much of higher education: foreign students. About 13,750 of Columbia’s roughly 35,800 students – or 38% – are international students. The new agreement requires Columbia to “examine its business model and take steps to decrease financial dependence on international student enrollment.” It also requires a “comprehensive review of its international admissions,” ensuring that “international student-applicants are asked questions designed to elicit their reasons for wishing to study in the United States” and are “committed to the long-standing traditions of American Universities including civil discourse, free inquiry, open debate and the fundamental values of equality and respect.” James Parrott, a senior fellow at the Center for New York City Affairs at The New School, says the new federal regulations are anathema to those traditions. — The Gothamist

As George Conway and JVL discussed, it will only be a matter of time before some tenured faculty or senior student looks to push to and maybe over the line Columbia has agreed to with this maladministration. That will bring the university into the cross hairs of the Trump anti-freedom administration once again. If past is prologue they will capitulate more.

Roar-ee. This visage of the mascot was adopted in 2005

Once you give in to black mailers they will extort more.

Columbia’s mascot is Roar-ee, a blue lion. (Columbia’s colors are white and blue).

This iteration of Roar-ee was adopted in 2005, but I think a new version of the mascots needs to be adopted, maybe one where all four feet are skyward, a cartoon staple of being dead.

Or even Roar-ee with his eye’s crossed out.

Roar=ee is all over their fight song too.

To “celebrate” the university’s disgrace a new fight song is needed. Here is our workshop.

The lyrics of Columbia’s old fight song

Roar, Lion, Roar!

And wake the echoes of the Hudson Valley!

Fight on to vict'ry evermore,

While the sons of Knickerbocker rally 'round

Columbia! Columbia!

Shouting her name forever

Roar, Lion, Roar!

For Alma Mater on the Hudson Shore!

Here are the new lyrics I came up with:

Mew, Kitten, Mew!

Hear the echoes of lost academic freedom!

She showed her belly evermore,

While the students mourn the loss of freedom

Columbia! Columbia!

Shouting her disgrace forever

Mew, kitten, mew

Harvard fights for freedom on these shores!

But I am sure someone else could do better, or tweak what I wrote.

So lets workshop the song AND the mascot.

Hopefully it will be sung to Columbia at every event they participate in. And the new mascot, well posting around the university wouldn’t hurt.

The university needs to be mock, hear and own its shame, every chance we get.

Maybe even Harvard will sing it to them at the various sporting events where they are opponents.

Here’s the segment JVL and Conway were talking about Columbia.
