President Donald Trump confirmed that talks with Canada have reached a standstill, and he does not expect a trade deal to be struck by the August 1 deadline. “We haven’t really had a lot of luck with Canada,” he said before traveling abroad
Despite this verbal setback, the U.S. has already imposed significant tariffs on Canadian exports—ranging from 50% on steel and aluminum to 25% on autos, energy and potash—underscoring escalating tensions in bilateral commerce
