Medical Debt should be a 2026 Issue [1]

Earlier this month there were many stories here and else where on Medical Debt, but I saw none on the cause. Many stories of Democratic Governors paying off Medical Debt for people in their States, but none on any work in Congress being done to rein in the Insurance companies who cause it. Last election I heard promises to “make health care more affordable”, but no challenges to the Health Care giants who run our lives and pick our pockets. Has the Health Care Lobby bought most of Democrats in Congress and the Senate, or just the Leadership? Until we get Medicare for all, they could at least try to regulate Insurance Companies. This is an issue for 2026. This a primary driver of Medical Debt.
“Indeed the Fund revealed that 23% of adults in the U.S. are underinsured, meaning that though they were covered by health insurance, high deductibles and coinsurance made it difficult or impossible to pay for the care they needed.
“They have health plans that don’t provide affordable access to care,” said Sara Collins, senior adviser and vice president at the Fund. “They have out-of-pocket costs and deductibles that are high relative to their income.”
