Just the Stats, Ma'am: Weekly Canvass Wrap Up from 17 Swing States where Congress will be Chosen [1]

Hope Springs from Field understands that volunteer to voter personal interactions are critical. Knocking on doors has repeatedly been found to be the most successful tactic to get voters to cast a ballot and that is the goal of what we do.
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Arizona in our diary on July 24th . 417 volunteers knocked on 29,481 doors. They talked to 2,417 voters and had in-depth conversations with 1,547 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
739 volunteers came out last Saturday in Florida and knocked on 54,464 doors. They talked to 4,357 voters in six counties. 2,788 voters responded to questions — more than a thousand more than last week! We registered 63 new voters (overwhelming African-Americans) and re-registered 32 voters, all using the Florida Secretary of State website (to comply with Florida’s stringent laws).
The Top Issue in Florida last Saturday was Voter Concern over the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. (High) Prices was the Number 2 issue. Alligator Alcatraz was third. That’s new.
On Saturday, 1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the Federal budget while 20% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing; 48% disapproved .
Florida has a new Senator, since Marco Rubio jumped ship. Her name is Ashley Moody. 5% of the voters we talked to approved of the job she was doing and 27% disapproved. Still finding voters who don’t know who she is. We also ask about how voters feel about the job the governor is doing. On Saturday, 11% said they approved and 45% said they’d disapprove. You may have noticed his numbers changing once we got out of FL-06.
347 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests. 7 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Georgia
739 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Georgia last Saturday. We knocked on 54,907 doors . You might notice (as i did) that even though Georgia and Florida had the same number of volunteers show up, Georgia volunteers knocked on ~450 more doors! They talked to 4,502 voters. 2,868 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 67 new voters (primarily African-American) and re-registered 27 voters.
Prices was the Top Issue in Georgia on Saturday. Worries about the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and the impact on Rural Hospitals was second and Jobs was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 21% disapproved. 5% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 51% disapproved. 54% of voters we talked to said they approved of the job Jon Ossoff was doing in the Senate; 3% said they disapproved. 38% approved of the job Gov. Kemp is doing while 38% disapproved. Second week in a row on that one.
372 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 8 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Iowa
374 volunteers came out last Saturday in Iowa and knocked on 26,815 doors. They talked to 2,172 voters and 1,411 voters responded to questions. We registered 4 new voters and re-registered 18 voters, to comply with federal voter laws. 98 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests.
The Top Issue in Iowa on Saturday were Concern over the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and the threat to Rural Hospitals. Tariffs and their impact on Agricultural Exports was the Number 2 issue. Releasing the Epstein Files was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts and 24% disapproved. 6% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing; 47% disapproved.
If you are unaware, Joni Ernst is officially on retirement watch, in large part because of reports her numbers don’t look good. 13% of the voters we talked to approved of the job Sen Ernst was doing and 47% disapproved. We are also asking how voters view their Incumbent (GOP) Members of Congress. 4% approved and 40% disapproved. We also ask about how voters feel about the job Gov. Reynolds is doing. On Saturday, 11% said they approved and 43% said they’d disapprove.
Kentucky
246 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in our third canvass in KY-06. We knocked on 17,884 doors and talked to 1,412 voters. 894 of those voters answered at least some of our questions from our Issues Survey.
We re-registered 1 new voter and re-registered 7 voters. 72 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Top Issue on Saturday. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was second. Releasing the Epstein Files was third.
3% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 21% disapproved. 5% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 42% disapproved. 4% of voters approved of the job Andy Barr is doing; 45% disapproved. 51% approved of the job Gov. Beshear is doing while 5% disapproved. One voter encouraged Beshear to run for president.
Maine
253 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in our kickoff canvass in Maine. We knocked on 18,899 doors and talked to 1,549 voters. 991 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 3 new voters and re-registered 9 voters. 8 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
Tariffs was the Top Issue in Maine on Saturday. The threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was second.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 25% disapproved. 4% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 49% disapproved. 7% of voters we talked to said they approved of the job Susan Collins was doing in the Senate; 55% said they disapproved. 48% approved of the job Gov. Mills is doing while 9% disapproved.
Michigan
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Michigan in our diary on Thursday. 683 volunteers knocked on 48,971 doors. They talked to 3,966 voters and had in-depth conversations with 2,526 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
Minnesota
553 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in Minnesota. We knocked on 40,756 doors and talked to 3,301 voters. 2,073 of those voters answered at least some of our questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 3 new voters and re-registered 13 voters. 152 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
High Prices (Beef was specifically mentioned at least twice) was the Top Issue in Minnesota on Saturday. Jobs was second. The future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 26% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 44% disapproved. 53% approved of the job Gov. Walz is doing while 5% disapproved.
Nevada
485 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in Nevada. We knocked on 35,744 doors and volunteers talked to 2,280 voters. 1,833 of those voters answered questions on our Issues Survey.
We registered 13 new voters and re-registered 28 voters to comply with federal law. 226 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests.
Inflation was the Number 1 Issue in Nevada on Saturday. Concern over the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid were second and Releasing the Epstein Files was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 23% disapproved. 7% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 48% disapproved. There is no senate race next year in Nevada, but we are asking about job approval for the Members of Congress in these districts. 9% approved and 41% disapproved. These numbers bounce around, depending on where we are canvassing. Democrats like their Democratic Members of Congress in Las Vegas and don’t like their MAGA Congressman in Reno! 28% approved of the job Gov. Lombardo is doing while 31% disapproved. Those numbers have changed!
New Hampshire
326 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in New Hampshire. We knocked on 23,700 doors and talked to 1,905 voters. 1,200 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 2 new voters and re-registered 9 voters. 118 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
High Prices was the Top Issue in New Hampshire on Saturday. The future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals were second. Releasing the Epstein Files was third was third.
2% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 18% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 47% disapproved. 8% approved of the job Gov. Ayotte is doing while 41% disapproved.
New Jersey
627 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in New Jersey. We knocked on 44,055 doors and talked to 3,686 voters. 2,311 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 4 new voters and re-registered 21 voters. 142 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
Jobs was the Top Issue in New Jersey on Saturday. Inflation was second. Worries over the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 20% disapproved. 4% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 49% disapproved. We are also asking how voters view their Incumbent (GOP) Members of Congress. 7% approved and 38% disapproved. 22% approved of the job Gov. Murphy is doing while 41% disapproved.
North Carolina
651 volunteers came out to knock on doors in North Carolina. We knocked on 48,629 doors and talked to 3,939 voters. 2,520 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 53 new voters (primarily African-American due to our Divine Nine volunteers) and re-registered 22 voters. 214 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Number 1 Issue in North Carolina. Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was second. Releasing the Epstein Files was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 23% disapproved. 7% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 45% disapproved. We’ve stopped asking about Tom Tillis, given his decision not to run again. 48% approved of the job Gov. Stein is doing while 5% disapproved.
Ohio
692 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Ohio last weekend. We knocked on 51,692 doors and talked to 4,125 voters. 2,632 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey. We registered 12 new voters and re-registered 33 voters.
Inflation was the Number 1 Issue in Ohio. Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was second. Jobs was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 22% disapproved. 7% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 44% disapproved. 4% approved of the job Jon Husted was doing in the Senate; 27% disapproved. 37% approved of the job Gov. DeWine is doing while 38% disapproved.
242 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 1 voter filled out an Incident Report, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Pennsylvania
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Pennsylvania in yesterday’s diary. 744 volunteers knocked on 54,832 doors. They talked to 4,380 voters and had in-depth conversations with 2,847 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
Texas
743 volunteers came out to knock on doors on Saturday in Texas. We knocked on 54,016 doors and talked to 4,380 voters. 2,847 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 48 new voters (primarily African-American due to our Divine Nine volunteers) and re-registered 30 voters, to comply with federal election law.
Inflation was the Top Issue in Texas last weekend. Tariffs was second and Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 23% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing while 43% disapproved. 4% approved of the job John Cornyn was doing in the Senate; 53% disapproved. 1% approved of the job Gov. Abbott is doing while 57% disapproved.
348 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 7 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Virginia
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Virginia in Wednesday’s diary. 622 volunteers knocked on 46,463 doors. They talked to 3,809 voters and had in-depth conversations with 2,438 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
