How dare he? [1]

Trump landed last evening (7/25/25) in Scotland, a country and its people making it very clear to him that he was not wanted. And for a personal trip, not one for our country. He is there to open his second golf course at Aberdeen with his son Don. Jr. Meanwhile, this trip is costing all of us, the American taxpayers, at least 10 million bucks.

Further, the folks in Scotland have been protesting and talking to the press. This trip may be costing us a boatload of money for his personal trip, but it is also costing the people of Scotland their tax dollars--Police Scotland has to keep him safe, at its own expense, and with policing personnel pulling 16-hour days, six and seven days a week to do this, as well as affecting the many families of these police officers.

Family vacations have been canceled; kids aren't spending time with their parents who are cops at one of the times of the school year when Scottish kids are off from school. (School kids in many countries get nowhere near the 10-12 weeks off in summer that our American kids do; they have term breaks that give them only a few weeks off at a time.)

He's not wanted, he is costing us and the folks of another country millions of dollars and what did he say on the tarmac shortly after landing?

Well, a lot of nonsense about Maxwell talking to a very smart man, Todd Blanche, the Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department (who was first Trump's defense attorney in the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial). But then telling the reporters that he wasn't really keeping up with it and had no clue what was being discussed. Right.

However, this wasn't nearly insulting enough--for some reason he began a rant during which he railed against wind turbines. He told the people of Scotland and elsewhere in Europe that they should immediately get rid of them because they are a blight on the land, they're ugly, they kill birds, they kill whales, they ruin people's health and then, get this, these turbines only produce power when there's wind. And of course, solar energy only produces energy when there is sunlight. Um, neither of these medieval, non-science "facts" is true. Clearly, he has never understood the concept of stored energy.

As if this wasn't enough of his ugly American nonsense, he then railed against all of Europe for allowing an "invasion." Yes, an invasion is the word he used. Of people, according to him, who are pouring into their countries illegally, ruining their countries, and creating great danger for their citizens. And he said some of the leaders are doing better but he won't name them because he didn't want to embarrass all of those leaders who aren't doing a good job controlling immigration. (Like we are, he said, telling reporters that not one person has entered our country illegally since his crackdown. Again, right. Sure.)

His words, they aren't going to have a country anymore. And that "they should get their act together and stop this horrible invasion that's happening to Europe." This whole "they aren't going to have a country anymore” should sound familiar, by the way--he used it during our own election to scare Americans into voting for him.

To go where you are not wanted, to rail against the very people of the country putting up with you for four days, and insult to injury, to cost them money, puts his malignant narcissism on full display for the entire world to see and it does not bode well for us. Because? Among many things, connected to this arrogant behavior are those bogus "trade deals" sent in the form of letters to all the countries he is tariffing. To be exact, more than 150 countries.

And thus another how dare he? To date, as of this morning, he and his minions have sent out only 26 of these tariff letters. It's almost the end of July folks and the stated tariffs by country are supposed to go into effect on August 9th? Or now is it August 11th? Regardless, if his chosen way to "negotiate" was to unilaterally set tariffs by letter to more than 150 countries with a looming deadline but so far only 26 have been sent, how in the hell are all these countries supposed to negotiate with the USA if they don't even have a piece of paper with a "stated tariff?"
