x The funniest part is how all the Righto trolls are insiting that the Macron's are making a mistake. They're not. This is you just making one final fake reality before actual reality smacks you hard! This will leave a 9 figure hole in Candace's bank account. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j... — Matt McNeil Show (@mattmcneilshow.bsky.social) 2025-07-23T23:38:48.904Z

Officials announce swifter-than-expected ban on traditional hunting practice: 'This is an important step for the future'
In England, Scotland, and Wales, lead ammunition is to be banned after a three-year phase-out period, starting in 2026, as announced by environmental minister Emma Hardy. According to the Guardian, the environmental concerns associated with lead have led to the ban. It was initially going to occur over a five-year phase-out but has been shrunk to just three years, meaning results will be visible even quicker. "Ammunition using lead has long been identified as a significant pollutant and a particular risk to waterbirds," the Guardian reported. "The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) estimates that about 100,000 waterbirds in the U.K. die every year from lead poisoning."

Boeing raises outlook for widebody freighters as 777-8 production begins
Boeing on Monday officially began production of the 777-8 freighter by drilling the first hole into a wing spar, while Airbus reached another milestone in building its new A350 freighter as the companies gear up competition for sales of large cargo jets. The developments come after Boeing (NYSE: BA) recently downgraded its 20-year forecast for air cargo volumes to 3.7% compounded annual growth from 4.1% in its 2024 commercial market outlook. Boeing also predicts total freighter aircraft entering the market by 2044 will be 2,900, up slightly from the 2,845 projection in last year’s report. The lower traffic forecast reflects a higher annual growth in the 2024 base year of 11% and lower long-term economic estimates, Boeing spokesman Ted Land explained. The airfreight market experienced a strong recovery in 2024, driven by cross-border e-commerce demand, after an 18-month downturn.
Severe storms packing high winds to roar from Dakotas to Kansas, New England
Rounds of severe thunderstorms will rumble and gust across the Midwest before extending into the Northeast in the coming days. The main threats from the storms in the Midwest will be high winds and hail, while storms in the Northeast will pack powerful gusts, AccuWeather meteorologists warn. Flooding downpours are also a concern for any storms that develop over the regions. Storms that erupted late Wednesday continued to rumble and blast areas in Iowa through Wednesday night with multiple gusts between 70 and 80 mph in several locations. Carroll, Iowa, recorded a gust to 82 mph. A bubble of slightly drier and cooler air will push the thunderstorms farther to the east and south into Friday. Thunderstorms, some severe with damaging wind gusts, will extend from central and southeastern Ontario to northwest Texas into Thursday evening.

Ancient whale 'graveyard' discovered under melting Russian glacier
Scientists have discovered that a glacier in the Russian Arctic is retreating extremely quickly — and its rapid retreat has exposed a graveyard of ancient whale bones. The research expedition landed on Wilczek Island, in the far north of Russia, earlier this year to study permafrost, according to a statement from the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) in Russia. Using satellite imagery, the team compared current and past positions of the glacier, Nikita Demidov , an AARI geologist, said in the statement. The scientists found that the ice cap on the island had split into two parts over a period of less than 20 years. This glacier's decline is part of a wider shift — a study from February found that, since 2000, glaciers have lost about 5% of their ice globally.
Flash flooding hits NYC and New Jersey declares state of emergency as storms soak Northeast
Flash flooding hit New York City and New Jersey declared a state of emergency as storms soaked the Northeast on Monday night. A flood warning was in effect for all five boroughs of New York City as New Yorkers filmed subway stations filling up with water. Local news footage and clips shared online by New Yorkers showed cars stranded in deep water in Westchester County, torrents of water flowing down New York City subway station stairs, and water pouring onto subway platforms. New York City officials urged residents to take precautions as thunderstorms through the afternoon produced heavy rain. “If you live in a basement apartment or low-lying area, be ready to move to higher ground,” New York City 311 wrote in an X post Monday night.
