Good News Potpouri: GNR July 23, 2025 [1]

Where has July gone, well most of it here in NC got washed away, it is our second wettest month on record here in Central NC. More rain in a month than Fran, and approaching the month that Floyd came through. I don’t know why eff hurricanes make me nervous.
Disclaimer: This GNR is not about pretending nothing bad is happening. It is about looking for the places we can put our positive energy that we all still have even if you are deep in the weeds. A chance to stop and smell the flowers, renew your energy, and try to find a little joy given who seems to hate joy.
Panicking in advance over every single possible thing he might do, IMO, reduces your resilience and ability to respond to what he tries to do, and which subset of those things he actually does. He throws a lot of spaghetti against the wall. He is constantly trying to see what things create the response he wants in his followers or detractors. Most of the reality is bad enough, don’t give him and his cronies ideas of how to make it even worse.
So today is a potpourri of assorted good news and random things that help to bring me some joy in the middle of the storm that is America these days. Come on in, get yourself a cup of resilience and recharge yourself.

Starting off with NC
If you don’t know the town of Carrboro, it is Chapel Hills smaller neighbor, and somehow manages to out liberal it’s bigger neighbor most of the time. Perhaps to keep the person they were named after spinning in his grave.
Remember Carrboro, they have Really Really Free Markets regularly. Which also happens in other cities in the Research Triangle area.
