Nobody here needs reminding that these are not normal times and extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.
Obama was a great president, but I believe his opportunity for Lincoln status is now. He is the only man with the gravitas and popularity to actually lead us in this fight against fascism. Not only would he get passed the congressional cute signs and the sternly worded letters, but joining this fight in the most prominent way would light a fire under all our Democratic officials and rally all of us around him. We are in desperate need of real leadership at this moment and he is quite literally the only person who can do this.
I understand he served his time, but like he’s urged us to toughen up, he needs to be called to the better angels and take up this fight by speaking everywhere and all the time, pointing out the tremendous damage being done to our country and the world.
I urge you to join me in writing to him at his office and urging him to break with tradition and join this fight. Further, we should all be shouting this from the rooftops and all over social media.
Save the union! Save the world! Draft Obama!
