Food for Thought: Trump's Cult Taketh Away [1]

Let’s chew on this (so to speak). All day long, the seditious claque that paints itself God’s Own Party blows smoke. Of late, some of that puffing has been all but literal. In effect, clouds from a pyre fueled by 1,000,000+ pounds of food that had been earmarked for needy humans have wafted around the well-fed jowls of our leader, Donald J. Trump.

In this case, under the aegis of a lapsed Mormon. Then ex-megachurched fundamentalist. And now mainstream Catholic/Trump kowtowing theocrat.

Namely, state secretary Marco Rubio. So. What would Jesus do-or-say? Well- assuming non-Republicans are allowed to cite and/or read the Bible- let’s see.

Just one miracle appears in all four Gospels. Often called “The Feeding of the 5000,” it concerns what you might call food aid for the hoi polloi. One fine day, Jesus holds forth outdoors- at length. Though rapt and reverent, the crowd in time grows ravenous. With provisions scarce, He morphs five bread loaves and two fish into a feast for all.

In like vein, the first Gospel enjoins the well-fixed to help the “hungry” (Matthew 25:35). And there’s more. Turns out failing to do so (let alone clawing back and burning food to which some have-nots have been slated to gain access!) bodes long-term consequences.

Chief among them (thunders verse 41): being condemned to “eternal fire” (aka hell).

So. Now or never, can we (figuratively) give today’s brutal, barbaric ruling party just that? Here’s the thing. Given its antinomian, holier-than-thou, truth-trumping schtick, you’d swear Christ must adore two-faced, hell-bent, ‘God’s Own Party’ bile. Nope. Any Bible concordance can point you to scads of Scriptural skewerings of highly placed hypocrites. Indeed, throughout post-Biblical history, it’s hard to recall (or imagine) any more flagrant ones than Trump. Rubio. JD ‘Hillbilly’ Vance. And cohort.

Don’t look now, but the bottom line looks pretty ugly. Dems have let a plutocratic, prolifically convicted felon (who, on tape, effectively admits to a history of habitual carnal assault) seize the eternal, almighty moral high ground, hallelujah. Beyond all doubt, that can’t help but bode ill. Hell on Earth. And pure, distilled evil.

Just sayin’. While we still can. (And that’s the God’s truth.)
