Trump's New York fraud case fine now at $525 million [1]

The original judgment was for $354 million. Plus interest, it was at $454 million when Trump posted the $175 million bond in order to be able to appeal. Since then is it is accruing 9% annual interest at $114,000 a day. It has grown to $525 million. Trump himself owes over $500 million and the rest is Don Jr. and Eric.

Trump wants the appeals court to make its decision.

Trump's inflation and deflation of property values in order to get favorable bank loans, insurance policies and taxes was what got him nailed for fraud by Letitia James with Judge Engoron imposing a fine originally of $354 million.

Trump already got a break when the appeals court allowed him to post a bond of only $175 million instead of the $354 million plus interest. Now, he thinks by pressuring the appeals court, they're going to decide in his favor.

He's just posting a link to a New York Post article from July 19th, but the first article they wrote was up on July 16th. Pretty much the same article.

The NY Post article tries to take a partisan look at one of the judges on the appeals court that was appointed by Governor Hochul. But, there was a 5 judge panel that heard oral arguments on Sept. 26, 2024. The article postulates that a decision should have come in 30 days. Looking it up, I get more like 6 to 10 weeks to start, but the decision can come after a year or more. Frankly, I'd like to see Trump have to pay the fine. I have been wondering why it's taking so long for them to figure out that Trump was a fraud and a criminal.

It's all in the hands of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. A mouthful of a court name. There is no way to find out why it is taking so long. People can only guess. What the New York Post story does though, could be called defamation by Gov. Hochul. They say that the Governor is holding up the decision so she has leverage to get federal aid funds for New York, along with congestion pricing in Manhattan and wind farms permitting. Or that her appointee on the court is holding up the decision for her. The Post didn't word it very well to avoid defamation, which they could have by quoting other people. What was said about the federal aid, congestion pricing and wind farms permitting was them, not someone else.

Trump may get what he wants, but not the way he wants it. The court might be having trouble dealing with the fact that he's the president, but they know he's a fraud. And it won't be the end of it, no matter which way it goes. There is still the New York Court of Appeals after that, and then the US Supreme Court.

While Trump complains about Sen. Adam Schiff's possible mortgage fraud, Trump is the king of fraudsters.

Be careful what you wish for, Donald Trump. You may not like the result.
