Just the Stats, Man: Weekly Canvass Wrap Up from 16 Swing States [1]

Hope Springs from Field understands that volunteer to voter personal interactions are critical. Knocking on doors has repeatedly been found to be the most successful tactic to get voters to cast a ballot and that is the goal of what we do.
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Florida in yesterday’s diary. 785 volunteers knocked on 58,639 doors. They talked to 4,691 voters and had in-depth conversations with 3,035 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
Georgia
728 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Georgia last Saturday. We knocked on 53,653 doors and talked to 4,292 voters. 2,747 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 63 new voters (primarily African-American) and re-registered 12 voters.
Jobs was the Top Issue in Georgia on Saturday. Worries about the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and the impact on Rural Hospitals was second and Tariffs was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 24% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 43% disapproved. 52% of voters we talked to said they approved of the job Jon Ossoff was doing in the Senate; 4% said they disapproved. 38% approved of the job Gov. Kemp is doing while 38% disapproved.
295 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 7 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Iowa
422 volunteers came out last Saturday in Iowa and knocked on 30,679 doors. They talked to 2,423 voters and 1,543 voters responded to questions. We registered 2 new voters and re-registered 8 voters, to comply with federal voter laws. 136 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests.
The Top Issue in Iowa that Saturday were (High) Prices. Tariffs and their impact on Agricultural Exports was the Number 2 issue. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts and 28% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing; 44% disapproved.
If you are unaware, Joni Ernst is officially on retirement watch, in large part because of reports her numbers don’t look good. 18% of the voters we talked to approved of the job Sen Ernst was doing and 44% disapproved. We are also asking how voters view their Incumbent (GOP) Members of Congress. 5% approved and 41% disapproved. We also ask about how voters feel about the job Gov. Reynolds is doing. On Saturday, 11% said they approved and 42% said they’d disapprove.
Kentucky
217 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in our third canvass in KY-06. We knocked on 15,558 doors and talked to 1,198 voters. 766 of those voters answered at least some of our questions from our Issues Survey.
We re-registered 3 voters. 84 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Top Issue on Saturday. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was second. Tariffs and threats to Agricultural Exports was third.
5% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 24% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 39% disapproved. 4% of voters approved of the job Andy Barr is doing; 42% disapproved. 49% approved of the job Gov. Beshear is doing while 6% disapproved.
Maine
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in Maine in our diary on July 16th. 125 volunteers knocked on 8,962 doors. They talked to 717 voters and had in-depth conversations with 466 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
Michigan
602 volunteers came out to knock on doors June 28th. We knocked on 44,969 doors and talked to 3,642 voters. 2,345 of those voters answered at least some of our questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 7 new voters and re-registered 19 voters. 266 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Top Issue in Michigan on Saturday. Tariffs was second. Jobs was third. Voters mention Auto Jobs in relation to both of these.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 28% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 42% disapproved. 51% approved of the job Gov. Whitmer is doing while 4% disapproved.
Minnesota
521 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in Minnesota. We knocked on 36,834 doors and talked to 3,020 voters. 1,924 of those voters answered at least some of our questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 2 new voters and re-registered 14 voters. 153 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Top Issue in Minnesota on Saturday. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Cuts to Rural Hospitals was second. Tariffs was third.
2% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 31% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 41% disapproved. 52% approved of the job Gov. Walz is doing while 5% disapproved.
Nevada
227 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in the Reno area. We knocked on 16,956 doors and volunteers talked to 1,373 voters. 879 of those voters answered questions on our Issues Survey.
We re-registered 4 voters to comply with federal law. 101 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests.
Jobs was the Number 1 Issue in Nevada on Saturday. Housing Availability, Affordability and Housing Insurance Costs were second and Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 21% disapproved. 8% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 43% disapproved. There is no senate race next year in Nevada, but we are asking about job approval for the Members of Congress in these districts. 4% approved and 48% disapproved. Surprise, surprise: Democrats like their Democratic Members of Congress in Las Vegas and don’t like their MAGA Congressman in Reno! 11% approved of the job Gov. Lombardo is doing while 38% disapproved.
New Hampshire
We wrote about last Saturday's canvass in New Hampshire in our diary on July 17th. 305 volunteers knocked on 21,563 doors. They talked to 1,746 voters and had in-depth conversations with 1,112 of them, respectively, guided by our Issues Questionnaire.
New Jersey
607 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday in New Jersey. We knocked on 44,734 doors and talked to 3,578 voters. 2,283 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 3 new voters and re-registered 12 voters. 194 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
Jobs was the Top Issue in New Jersey on Saturday. Prices was second. Worries over the future of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 28% disapproved. 10% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 42% disapproved. We are also asking how voters view their Incumbent (GOP) Members of Congress. 3% approved and 41% disapproved. 36% approved of the job Gov. Murphy is doing while 14% disapproved.
North Carolina
634 volunteers came out to knock on doors in North Carolina. We knocked on 46,091 doors and talked to 3,779 voters. 2,456 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 49 new voters (primarily African-American due to our Divine Nine volunteers) and re-registered 13 voters. 255 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Number 1 Issue in North Carolina. Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was second. Tariffs and threats to Agricultural Exports was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 26% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 44% disapproved. 11% approved of the job Thom Tillis was doing in the Senate; 33% disapproved. 49% approved of the job Gov. Stein is doing while 5% disapproved.
Ohio
731 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Ohio last weekend. We knocked on 53,874 doors and talked to 4,301 voters. 2,724 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey. We registered 7 new voters and re-registered 28 voters.
The Economy was the Number 1 Issue in Ohio. Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was second. Tariffs and the potential impact of Agricultural Exports was third. People are definitely afraid of a Trade War.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 24% disapproved. 10% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 43% disapproved. 4% approved of the job Jon Husted was doing in the Senate; 24% disapproved. 40% approved of the job Gov. DeWine is doing while 38% disapproved.
206 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 5 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Pennsylvania
728 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Pennsylvania last Saturday. We knocked on 54,163 doors and talked to 4,273 voters. 2,735 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey.
Prices was the Number 1 Issue in Pennsylvania. Jobs was second. Tariffs was third.
2% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 22% disapproved. 7% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 45% disapproved. There is no senate race next year in Pennsylvania, but we ask about job approval for the Members of Congress in these districts. 4% approved of the job the incumbent Member of Congress was doing; 53% disapproved. 52% approved of the job Gov. Shapiro is doing while only 5% disapproved.
303 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests. 2 voters filled out an Incident Report, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
Texas
At least 3 of our groups took the weekend off to help assist in disaster recovery efforts for the flash floods in the Hill Country. But 378 volunteers came out to knock on doors on Saturday in Texas. We knocked on 27,858 doors and talked to 2,284 voters. 1,462 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 4 new voters and re-registered 16 voters, to comply with federal election law. 114 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
The Economy was the Top Issue in Texas last weekend. Difficulty in finding employees was second (this hadn’t risen to a Top 3 before and i’m not exactly sure what this means but it has been getting mentioned in the last month or so) and Threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Rural Hospitals was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 21% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing while 40% disapproved. 4% approved of the job John Cornyn was doing in the Senate; 51% disapproved. 2% approved of the job Gov. Abbott is doing while 57% disapproved.
Virginia
573 volunteers came out to knock on doors on Saturday in Virginia in the 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts. We knocked on 41,657 doors and talked to 3,374 voters. 2,149 of those voters answered at least some of our questions. We registered 2 new voters and re-registered 11 voters.
The Economy was the Top Issue in Virginia last weekend (VA-02 is the home of Norfolk. which has a lot of federal employees). Housing Availability, Affordability and Housing Insurance Costs were second. Federal Budget Cuts was third.
1% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 42% disapproved. 7% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing; 48% disapproved. 57% approved of the job John Warner was doing in the Senate; 2% disapproved. 3% approved of the job Gov. Youngkin is doing while 51% disapproved.
172 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 3 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
