Greetings friends, and thank you for once more stopping by to see what I might be about now and then.
So, here we are again. I learned last week what happens when I stand up for myself. For those of you who don’t know, I have had a home health company coming out several times a week to help with both wound care and showers. Recently, my nurse informed me that she had put in her twi weeks notice. She was moving on to a better job. Sad for me, but perfectly reasonable. The problem is this… the company refused to send out another nurse until we either moved the dogs into our bedroom, which is not possible due to other medical equipment, there is no room for their crate, or rehomed them.. which, is not happening. Now, keep in mind, our dogs have neveer attacked a soul, and anytime one of the medical personnel are here, the dogs are safely in their crate to keep them and the nurses safe.
I discussed the issue with the family, and minion decided that she would make time to do bandage changes for me, as they are only twice a week, and we could make things work. after all, I would still have my shower Aide coming in twice a week, and we could make things work.
I sent word to the company that we would handle wound care on our own, until such time as they could find a nurse who would behave professionally. No word back. That is important to note, I got no word back. Along comes friday. PCA texts me. “I’m on my way. I’ll probably get there about 5.30 pm” and she does. she pulls in to the drveway, logs into her app on her phone to clock in, and her schedule is blank, i am not on it. Apparently, admin has decided that if I won’t bow to their whim, I don’t need showers either.
Morale of the story? In todays America, if you stand up for yourself.. they will find ways to punish you for it.
