We're Still Failing At Our Messaging [1]

There has been tons of discussion on the left and within the democratic establishment about how to deal with the massive loss of voters within the younger age groups, especially the male categories. Yet, on this site, and every time I see the party come out with an effort to deal with this, it feels tone deaf and contrived. It’s because democrats have in ways inoculated themselves from the very voices they need to listen to.

There are plenty of voices on the right, especially within the male sphere, to criticize and not engage with because they either are completely in the cult mentality or are not operating on good faith in anyway, aka provocateur's.

However, there are tons of voices within these groups we have been losing in droves, that are literally screaming at the left and the democrats that they want a healthy, better alternative to the current status quo. But, they understandably don’t accept the current democratic narrative that the left is their to help them, especially younger men who do not benefits at nearly the same level from government spending and social programs like the older generation of men had and still have.

The main thing they want is to be able to speak without constant derision from the left, especially the far left, be heard in some form, and have their concerns validated, discussed, and provided solutions for. The left has not done this in the ways we think we have, especially for younger men. I don’t agree with these individuals numerous times, but I also think they make very solid points. I think they are genuine in wanting solutions and wanting a system that uplifts everyone, just like us. They only see the policies and approaches we push as not always successful in accomplishing this, and they are right in many ways. Despite all the good we have done, the democratic party has failed many groups, including their own voters, numerous times throughout the decades.

Also, and more importantly, if we want to be heard by the groups, we have to engage them were they are at and how they engage each other. That means diving into these communities and videos, even when they are toxic and hard to handle, putting up response videos that are not tone deaf, get conversations going with them where they are on the internet and in real life. They are trying here with these videos. If they didn’t want us to provide them a better alternative, they would not be taking the time to provide these analysis of why they are still not on board with us.

The left can keep ignoring this, and they can keep trying to win by letting the republicans continually self implode cycle after cycle. But, the long term historical data shows this strategy is costing us everything we have built in this country. So, we either learn to give space for these individuals, even when are feelings and emotions and beliefs feel hurt momentarily by the engagement, and try to include and respond to them, or we all lose together and the fascist and authoritarian's win.

Lastly, I would heavily recommend watching these videos, which I think help explain why the left is continually falling flat in their messaging to these groups and large swaths of America.
