TACO Smoot keeps doing flops, hoping he gets bailed out betting on the river. It's all still 'The Apprentice' reruns.
There are no dummies in poker, but he’s going to find one to replace someone he chose in his first term (Hassett), even if he collapses the bond market to distract from scandal and serve Russian interests. The wise(sic) choice would be Warsh. Trump opined that a ‘fraud’ could allow for removing Powell, concocted from the usual GOP theory of excess budgeting: ‘steal from the poor to give to the rich’.
This fits with a need to distract from the tariff problems in the current economic ‘stagflation’.
The irony is that Trumpian appointees to the DC Commission of Fine Arts specified design changes that raised the cost of the Federal Reserve Bank headquarters renovations that may be involved in the accusation of fraud that may be levied against Powell. White Georgia marble, treated glazing, bronze, and other metals become new more expensive additions to the cost of ‘new civil architecture’ that represents Trumpian insistence on neoclassical design.
Following NYT reports that Trump drafted a letter to fire Powell, Fed Chair nominee odds shifted significantly. Kevin #Hassett surged to 35.45%, emerging as the market favorite. Hassett, former Chair of the CEA and key economic adviser during Trump’s first term, holds a dovish stance and has deep policy ties to the former president. THE HAGUE (Reuters) -President Donald Trump on Wednesday called Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell "terrible" in his latest attack on the central bank chief and said he has three or four people in mind as contenders for the top Fed job. "I know within three or four people who I'm going to pick," Trump told reporters when asked if he is interviewing candidates to replace Powell. The leading contenders reportedly include former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, National Economic Council head Kevin Hassett, current Fed Governor Christopher Waller, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Hassett would be the least qualified Fed Chair in history by a very substantial margin. Some analysts see this as an effort to influence monetary policy through a "shadow" Fed chair even before Powell leaves office in May 2026. finance.yahoo.com/... @maddenifico “Kevin Hassett, the perpetually smiling blithering idiot who is Trump's director of the National Economic Council, had ZERO answer when asked why the pedophile president has put 50% tariffs on Brazil when the US has had a trade surplus w/ Brazil for years.” People seem to have just plain forgotten that Kevin Hassett originally got famous for writing a book saying the Dow should soon hit 36,000, and then he was off by about 23 years. clown car Russia weighs in x Could you imagine a president of the United States tanking the bond market to distract from a sex scandal? Not possible, right? Like some kind of crazy movie script too absurd even for Hollywood? — George Conway 👊🇺🇸🔥 (@gtconway.bsky.social) Jul 16, 2025 at 1:28 PM
