Earthquakes — Something will have to fill the void Trump leaves behind
✂️ The Trump era, which began in 2016 and will resolve over the next few years, is an interregnum between the Reagan regime of the prior four decades and what lies ahead. It is a moment of reactionary regrouping, a way station between the America Reagan envisioned and whatever is to come. Trump’s voters are reacting to a demography that is changing more rapidly than we may realize. Within a generation, America will be a majority minority nation, driven by the growth of Millennials and Gen Z—the most diverse generation in history. It is not a coincidence that MAGA politics emerged in 2016, the year Millennials and Gen Z voters outnumbered Baby Boomers and older voters for the first time. Generational shifts are power shifts. The degree of resistance to them is a measure of how strong they are. These are the birth pains of a new America, one that Trump voters desperately want to stop. Trump is leading the country through an inflection point, a time of destruction and uncertainty, of transition and drastic change. But change to what? Trump cannot stop demography, but he has torn apart the old order. A Republican party that once rallied voters around the rhetoric of lower taxes and smaller government has become a vehicle for the most reactionary voices in its former coalition. It is difficult to imagine ever going back. But Trump has put nothing in its place. One of the ironies of this moment is that someone who rose to the pinnacle of power by brandishing his credentials as a builder knows only how to tear things down. His goal, of course, is to establish an American autocracy that overwrites the constitutional arrangements that supported that prior order and every party system since 1787. He has made strides toward this goal but he has also been pushed back, and in any event, to truly succeed he will need to make it permanent. Maybe he can. If he does, then the next party system won’t be a party system at all. It will be the sunset of the republic. But maybe he can’t. So far he hasn't. And it does no good to operate on the assumption that he will. Our call to action is to assume he will not and to ask ourselves what avenues will open after he’s gone. ✂️ ===
I always enjoy these Politics Chats and hope you do too. It runs 43 minutes. She is also asking us what we want to see in our government. After the nightmare of the felon for the past decade, we need to be ready to support candidates who will work to restore taxes on the wealthy, respect science, enable clean energy, provide safety and security to our people, fund education so our children can soar, once again assume the mantle of a respected and contributing member of world organizations, and just generally work to make America the best she can be. A state of becoming, but hopefully able to fulfill more of her promise.

As promised, more Epstein drama!! Let’s keep this story alive for the next 2 years FOREVER!!!
The Epstein fallout finally reveals Trump’s Achilles heel
MAGA conspiracy theorists had to engage in Simone Biles-level mental gymnastics over the years as they have seen countless claims by Donald Trump be debunked or turned into nothingburgers. It turns out Barack Obama was an American citizen the whole time. Osama Bin Laden was actually killed by Navy SEALs. John F. Kennedy Jr. is not coming back. The “Pizzagate” restaurant was really just a place that sold pizza. And of course, the election of 2020 was not stolen. These conspiracy-lovers never faltered in their support for the president, even as they continually had to explain why the claims he made kept turning out to be false. Because their gymnastics mostly lead to the ultimate conspiracy: the deep state. ✂️ Now, Trump finds himself in a very unusual position. The very case he used to illustrate the scope of the deep state is now revealing to his most ardent supporters that the emperor is naked — and perhaps they’ll even conclude that he might even be on this alleged Epstein list himself. ✂️
He’s flailing and it is beautiful!

He really is all over the place. Looney.
x This is amazing. Yesterday Trump claimed he talked to his uncle about how brilliant the Unabomber was when the Unabomber was a student of his at MIT. The Unabomber never went to MIT, he was identified in 1996, and his uncle died in 1985.

Once the lie of the deep state and the felon’s inability to control the narrative takes hold, I’m hoping the rest of his lies fall like a house of cards.
===
This is wild. These people have checked any brain cells they have at the door. I wouldn’t normally expect you to watch bill o’reilly, but it is definitely worth it.

Let’s fire the prosecutor. Yeah, that’ll put the issue to rest!
'Totally not guilty!' Trump buried in mockery as key Epstein prosecutor ousted
A prominent prosecutor in the Justice Department who investigated both Jeffrey Epstein and Sean "Diddy" Combs for sex trafficking was fired on Wednesday, Politico reported. The reason why Maurene Comey was fired was not immediately clear, but it comes as President Donald Trump seeks to distance himself from the Epstein files scandal that has rocked his administration for the last week. Both Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have faced bipartisan criticism for their handling of the case. Trump has promised his MAGA base for years that he would release the files once he was in office. Bondi even claimed that the files were sitting on her desk, suggesting that they were ready to be released. However, the administration has since backtracked in an attempt to make the story go away. ✂️
Ok, I think I have milked this for all it’s worth. Until I write again next week! 😂🤣😂

Pressing our advantage as Trump faces rebellion
I encourage a full reading of this excellent article. Some highlights:
Across several fronts on Tuesday, Trump's agenda suffered losses, setbacks, and erosion of support among his most loyal supporters. Some of the setbacks were meaningful, while others were “merely” political (for now). As we head into the Make Good Trouble pro-democracy rallies on Thursday, July 17, 2025, grassroots activists should press our advantage on the fronts below. Each represents an area of weakness for Trump that may help convert some voters at the margins to stay home in 2026 or to vote against Trump's hand-picked candidates. ✂️ On Tuesday, the Senate barely advanced a bill that would approve Trump's attempt to claw back $9 billion in funds previously appropriated by Congress. ✂️ Doge claims to have saved the taxpayers $190 billion by unilaterally refusing to spend funds previously appropriated by Congress. If Trump were to follow the law set forth in the Impoundment Control Act, he would have submitted a clawback request for $190 billion. Instead, Trump sought congressional authority to rescind $9 billion in previously approved spending. By seeking congressional approval for some but not all of the unlawfully held funds, Trump has effectively acknowledged that he withheld tens of billions of dollars in violation of the Constitution (Art. I, §9, Cl. 7) and the Impoundment Control Act. Trump should be impeached, convicted, and removed from office on this basis alone. Indeed, his first impeachment involved a threat to unlawfully impound funds appropriated for the defense of Ukraine. ✂️ The request for exclusions from the “clawback” indicates that at least four Republican Senators are already considering the downstream electoral consequences of cutting popular programs. But the “clawback” request is a small fraction of the unlawful DOGE cuts of $190 billion. Those cuts hit domestic programs like NOAA, FAA, the national parks, green energy, university research departments, aid for students with disabilities, disaster response funds, and much more. Here's my point: Republicans understand they are on unpopular ground and are attempting to reduce their exposure to the “worst” cuts. We must press our advantage on those cuts. ✂️ Trump's lawless reign will end when enough of us show up in the streets to make clear to his political and corporate enablers that they will pay a steep electoral and economic price for continuing to support Trump. ✂️

They are trying to cheat. Big surprise. It’s all they know. The good news is we’re onto them.
I want the felon to be investigated for his manipulation of the stock market and for his grifting while holding office. Specifically, this crypto mumbo jumbo is criminal behavior to the extreme. Trump’s Crypto Firm Raised $52 Million—Likely Sending Millions To His Family, New Disclosure Reveals ✂️ White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly responded to questions about the deal by saying, “President Trump is dedicated to making America the crypto capital of the world and revolutionizing our digital financial technology,” adding, “his assets are in a trust managed by his children, and there are no conflicts of interest.” An ethics white paper the Trump Organization released in January noted the Constitution does not bar a president from owning, operating or managing a private business. But to “avoid even the appearance of any conflict,” the company said it hired an outside ethics adviser and Trump would keep his assets in a trust and not manage the company directly. The Trump Organization, however, later fired that adviser at Trump’s instruction. ✂️ This is bogus. He is working everyday to devalue the dollar in order for crypto to increase in value. He is welcoming bribes and is basically doing it out in the open. Every stupid tariff discussion or threat against the Fed causes knee jerk reactions in the stock market and for those savvy and in on the joke, they can make loads of money while the rest of us are tossed around like rag dolls. I’m hoarding coffee and toilet paper, for Pete’s sake! 😂 Worried to death what the nut might do to try and deflect attention from “the epstein hoax”. Please let this nightmare end!!! === This is a tough day because I’m waiting on news of the emil bove and jeanine pirro votes not to mention, I wait with hopeful optimism that our Make Good Trouble protests are massive across the nation! I will update this diary as news comes in. I have appointments today so if I’m not able to update before publishing time, please do come with stories to the comments! Thanks to all for being a part of this amazing Shady community!! 😎

I love emojis! 😎😁🥰💙😍😃😊😂🤣😎
July 17 is the one date that is shown in its own emoji. Famously displayed in the 📅 Calendar Emoji, this makes July 17 the perfect date for 🌏 World Emoji Day. Emoji were invented by Shigetaka Kurita in Japan and were first seen on Japanese mobile phones in 1999. The Face with Tears of Joy Emoji 😂 is the Most Popular. Over 10 billion emojis are sent daily. They are used prevalently on social media—over 700 million emojis are used in Facebook posts daily.
I had no idea any date was displayed in the calendar emoji. I can’t even see the numbers! And I have never used that emoji! WEIRD!

July 17th 2002 was the date of the adoption of the treaty that created the International Criminal Court. In June 2010, at the Review Conference of the Rome Statute, the Assembly of State Parties decided to celebrate July 17th as the Day of International Criminal Justice.
It would be symbolic and fitting if, on this day, the felon is brought to justice! Along with every single person who has enabled his cruelty and grifting. (2027? 2029? I’d be good with either.)

Following the end of World War II and liberation from Japanese Rule, Korea was split in two by the occupation of Allied and Soviet forces. In April 1948 a democratic election for National Assembly members was held in Allied-controlled South Korea. The elected assembly members then created a constitution, based on a presidential and unicameral system. This constitution was formally adopted by President Syngman Rhee on July 17, 1948 On 15 August 1948, the Republic of Korea was established, with Syngman Rhee as the first president. On 9 September 1948, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) was established under Kim Il-sung. I’ll plug the South Korean show Woo Young Woo here. If you’ve never seen it, I encourage you to seek it out. x x YouTube Video

This is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard. To quote theghostofjohndewey, I’m thinking “alcohol may have been involved”.
Yellow Pig Day originated in the 1960s when two math students from Princeton spent time analyzing the number 17. They went a little crazy and decided to invent the concept of a yellow pig with 17 toes and 17 teeth. Now Yellow Pig Day (July 17th) is an important part of the academic calendar and is celebrated with cake, carols, and general revelry.

Douglas “Wrong Way” Corrigan took off from an airfield in Brooklyn on July 17, 1938, with plans to land in California. Claiming he took a wrong turn, the Irish American pilot landed in Dublin, Ireland the next day instead. The motto of this day is that 'it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission', as it has long been claimed that Corrigan flew the Atlantic on purpose because he had been denied permission to do so at a time when the Charles Lindbergh flight aboard the Spirit of St.Louis, of 1927, was still considered a modern miracle.

The word "tattoo" has an interesting etymology. It is derived from the Polynesian word "tatau" or "tatu," which means "to mark" or "to strike." The Polynesian word found its way into the English language through the accounts of European explorers who encountered the practice of tattooing during their voyages in the Pacific Islands.
