Trump sounds crazy again for reporters - yesterday [1]

There was a little excitement Tuesday before Trump left to go to Carnegie Mellon University. The Secret Service locked down the White House campus after somebody lobbed something over the North fence. He was taken for a mental health evaluation. Object cleared by the bomb squad. After that, Trump talked to reporters before boarding Marine One.
Reporter: Mr. President, why are you giving Putin 50 additional days to prosecute this war against Ukraine?
Trump: Oh, I don't think 50 days is very long. And it could be sooner and that. I don't think 50 days is very long.
Reporter: Mr. President ---
Trump: You should have asked that same question to Biden. Why did he get us into this war? You should ask that question.
Reporter: I did ask that question. I asked that question to Biden.
Trump: Yeah, and what did he tell you? Why did he get us into this war?
Reporter: He didn't give me an answer, Mr. President.
Trump: You know why he got us in? Because he's a dummy, that's why. And you don't, and you don't cover it right.
Reporter: I covered it.
Trump: But you should be asking that question to Biden. Why did he get us into this war? Because he's incompetent. It would have never happened if I was president.
It sort of reminds me of Mad Magazine's Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions. Except the stupid questions this time were coming from Trump, not the reporter.
Reporter: Mr. President, [taxes?], sir? Do you believe your tariffs might have led inflation to increase last month? Do you think they had any role?
Trump: Oh, we had very little inflation. Uh, I don't know --- who do you work for?
Reporter: USA Today.
Trump: What?
Reporter: USA Today.
Trump: Oh, well, they wrote me a beautiful article the other day, so I can't get angry at you.
Trump can't get angry at USA Today because they wrote a piece that said that Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize. Idiots.
Reporter: What about the European Union [tariffs?]
Trump: USA Today just wrote a very good article about me. What's that all about?
Reporter: What about --- Mr. President ---
Trump: So I can't get angry at you.
Reporter: Sir ---
Trump asks what's that about, when he knows what it is about, unless he just remembers that USA Today was good and forgot about it being about the Nobel Peace Prize. That's possible.
He's asked about the Epstein files and he responds with Pam Bondi doing a very good job and it needs to be credible evidence.
Trump: And I think the Attorney General's handled it very well. On what? On the, uh? On what? On what subject?
Reporter: Epstein. On Epstein. There was a few of the files that went on Pam Bondi's ---
Trump: A very, very quick briefing here.
Reporter: She's, she's, she told you --- What did she tell you about [inaudible] Specifically did she tell you at all that your name appears in that filing?
Trump says no, of course. Then he proceeds to blame it on Comey and Obama.
Trump: They we're made up by --- But the Biden inform, you know, uh. We and we went through years of that with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, with all of the different things that we had to go through.
Right. The Epstein files were made up by Democrats. Epstein was arrested during Trump's administration. If anyone made things up, it was him.
Reporter: Mr. President are you going to appoint Mr. Powell to another term as Fed chair?
Trump: You must be kidding.
Reporter: Have you started interviewing replacements?
Trump: You must be kidding.
No, the reporter was not kidding. It's a serious question, especially since Trump does not have the power to fire Jerome Powell. But, we've been saying that about a lot of other agencies that are not under his aegis. He never remembers that he was the one who appointed Powell in the first place.
Reporter: You say you want Adam Schiff brought to justice.
Trump: I would love to see him brought to justice. I think it's -—
Reporter: Is that jail?
Trump: I think, I'll tell you what, I think Adam Schiff is one of the lowest of the low. I would love to see him brought to justice. Uh, he is a dishonest, crooked guy. I don't know about the individual charge if that happens, but Adam Schiff is a serious low life.
Adam Schiff is not going to jail. He's not going to be charged with anything. It's all about claiming a home as a primary residence on a mortgage. It was brought up in 2009, it was brought up in 2023, and nothing happened. It's just being dug up because it can be. Trump just hates Adam Schiff because he was on the January 6th Committee, and he got a pardon from Biden, and is out of his reach forever. The discussion comes up about AOC and Mamdani.
Trump: Uh, look he's a communist. I don't think our country's ready for a communist, but we're gonna see. And I don't think that race is over yet either. You do have a couple of people running against and I, it'll be an interesting thing. Things are coming out about him that aren't good. And, uh, you know, AOC, look. I think she's very nice, but she's very low IQ., and we really don't need low IQ. Between her and Crockett, we're going to give them both an IQ test to see who comes out best. Now, I took a test. I took a real test at Walter Reed Medical Center, and I aced it. I got every one of those questions right. Now it's time for them to take a test. Anyway, have a good time.
Trump did not take an IQ test at Walter Reed. It was to check out his cognitive decline. And we have a paid-for doctor just saying that Trump was okay. We don't have any evidence that he passed the cognitive test. We don't have any information. The last thing Donald Trump should be talking about is other people's IQ.
Then one of Trump's sycophant reporters asks about Leticia James mortgage fraud and Adam Schiff's mortgage fraud. Leticia James and her lawyer, Abbe Lowell, already put out the information that shows she took care of every question immediately. Adam Schiff dealt with his case in 2009. And it was only in 2023, with the Republicans running the House that it was brought up again. Again nothing happened. Trump, of course thinks both of them should go to jail.
Trump had another press gaggle when he arrived back in Washington on Air Force One.
Trump: The pharmaceuticals will probably be tariffed at the end of the month. And we're going to start off with a low tariff and we're gonna give the pharmaceutical company a year or so to build. And then we're going to make it a very high tariff because --- We gotta move 'em and look, there's two ways you do it. You make money and-or-and-or you have them move here so they don't have to pay the tariff. Those are the two ways. The pharmaceutical companies are moving back to America where they should be.
From what I've been reading, the pharmaceutical companies are not planning on moving to America. Their manufacturing facilities are where they are, in foreign countries. All the tariffs are going to do is hurt American consumers more than they already are by high drug costs. Trump is going to make sure that we continue to pay the highest prices in the world, instead of following through on the plan that Biden had that was working.
Reporter: I know that you've urged people to move on, but I'm curious, why do you think your supporters in particular have been so interested in the Epstein story?
Trump: I don't understand ---
Reporter: So upset about how it's been handled. Why do you think that is?
Trump: I don't understand it. Uh, why they would be so interested in --- He's dead for a long time. Uh, he was never a big factor in terms of life. Uh, I don't understand what they were interest or what the fascination is. And the credible information has been given. Don't forget, we went through years of the Mueller witch hunt and all the different things.
"Never a big factor in terms of life." Explain that one to me. He's been saying "all the different things" more often, lately. Another way of ending a discussion.
Trump: The Steele Dossier, which was all fake, all that information was fake. But I don't understand why did Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anyone. It's pretty boring stuff. It sordid, but it's boring. And I don't understand why it keeps going. Uh, I think well, really, only pretty bad people, including fake news, wanna keep something like, like that going. But, credible information, let 'em give it. Anything that's credible. I would say let them have it.
The next day he completely changed his tune with another Truth Social demand that everybody stop looking for the files and calling his followers weaklings and past supporters.
Then he started talking about how tough the tariffs on Russia would be, not giving a figure. He made Howard Lutnick laugh a bunch of times as he was saying that Howard would be tougher than him.
Trump: --- we'll be releasing a letter soon, talking about many countries that are much smaller, where you're not gonna do letters per se. You might do an individual letter, but it's gonna go quickly. And the number will also be less.
I can't makes sense of the last sentence. The number will also be less than what? He's got 150 countries to go by my count. There's still a lot of large countries to go. What about Australia? What about all the African countries? What about South America besides Brazil? Letter diplomacy has not worked well so far. Nobody's been happy with what they've been told they're getting as tariff rates.
Reporters asked him about Gaza negotiations and Israel, so Trump came up with his own topics to talk about, ignoring the question.
Trump: No, I think Israel's going to be, uh, Israel's going to be fine. We had a great victory with Israel. What we did, uh, the B-2 bombers and all of that. And, you know, I never thought of it, but so many people are thanking me. They say, "No president had the guts to do it." Because, you know, this has been going on for 25 years. In fact, when the pilots came to the Oval Office, they said, "Sir, we and our predecessors have been working on this attack for 25 years." Uh, have a good time everybody.
And he walked away to go into the White House.
To sir, with love. The "sir" routine is wearing thin. He's expanded the time date again on something. The actual plan time quoted before is 15 years, so he makes it 25 to make it more impressive.
Not as bad and evil as his Office of Faith luncheon. But horrible nonetheless. Talking about AOC and Jasmine Crockett's IQ again. Poor handling talking about the Epstein files. And prosecuting Adam Schiff and Leticia James for non-crimes. That's Donald.
