NEW SCAM based on your confidential health records [1]

Late yesterday I received a text that said it came from ”U-M Health” That would be the U of Mich health system, where, yes, I am a patient. It continues: “You have an offer for a sooner appointment. Act quickly! This offer has also been sent to other patients. Log in at MyUofMHealth.org to accept or decline this offer. MichMed .org”.
This struck me as suspicious, especially “Act quickly!” which is the main content of any hacking message. I called my number for U of Mich medical and they said they have no records of any offers of earlier appointments for me.
My husband checked the phone # this message came from, and it didn’t register as a U of M number. Then he looked at my patient portal, and it had at the top “offers of new appointments have now expired.” When he clicked on that, it vanished.
So SOMEBODY knows not only my name and phone #, but that I’m connected to the U of Mich health system. Well, we know there have been mass hackings of health systems---not to mention all the DOGE activity. This entity was able to put something on my patient portal, besides sending a text.
So this is a WARNING: anything you receive as purporting to come from your health care system should be treated as suspect, and checked by using your own contact info. Do not respond to it directly or by using any info it contains.
