Canvassing Maine: A Competitive Senate Seat to capture and Dem Congressional District to be retained [1]

“It’ll be 85 this weekend,” one Maine organizer said.

Oh, perfect canvassing weather, i replied.

“Not in Maine! that’s too hot.”

The things you learn. “This is where people come to escape the heat!” The irony, of course, is that two weeks ago Hope Springs from Field PAC [dated website] organizers had had a different conversation, because it wasn’t supposed to be 62 by the time we would wrap up canvassing, on whether we should lower the weather parameters for Maine and New Hampshire (which we decided to do, in order to get enough canvassing in for the Summer).

I get it. My wife, who is from the Chicago South Suburbs, finds the heat stifling when it gets over 89. Being from Florida, i think anything in the 90s (under 98) is delightful. I focus more on the humidity, which is more of a factor for me. But it took me a couple of years to adjust to Chicago weather, coming from Florida 20-odd years ago, so i get it.

So Maine was experiencing a heat wave on Saturday. Didn’t stop anyone from showing up and i kinda wished i was there! Lol.
