What's Up With These Gross Rich Men? [1]

With the Epstein/Trump case front and center, (may its impact on MAGA be long and deep!) I’m again finding myself trying to understand the pathology of these men (and it does always seem to be men). They’re wealthy enough to buy anything and they can have whatever they want.
Like most men (or most humans) they also want sex, and there seems to be plenty of attractive young women who are willing to indulge them with their “company” in some capacity (apparently even in matrimony, although those arrangements are often short-lived). Sometimes they can even land a celebrity model or a singer or actress. But if their ego can’t quite handle being with someone who might occasionally outshine them, they can always go for someone unknown or of lesser means. Whichever they prefer, it’s not hard to get attention when you’ve got a billion dollars.
If they don’t want to go to all of the trouble of fancy cars and jewelry, the lavish parties, the paparazzi, etc. they can skip all of that. If they’re not interested in a relationship and instead prefer the exciting variety of an endless series of conquests, there are places where old-fashioned cash-for-sex prostitution is legal and readily available, and they have bottomless buckets of discretion incentive slips (a.k.a. hush money) to give to their escort services. But somehow that’s not enough.
If vanilla sex isn’t their thing, there are plenty of sex workers who can indulge their preferences. If they like, they can afford to hold wildly hedonistic “Eyes Wide Shut” parties where nearly any taboos or kinks can be freely explored without social penalty. But that’s not enough either.
If they’re simply obsessed with nubile young women, they could easily find women who are are not minors but look like they are, but that’s not enough either. For these men, it’s not enough for the women to look underage, they want them to be underage — to be girls.
While it’s clearly about sex, it seems to be about something beyond simply sex. It seems like for these guys the attraction is the crime and their ability to get away with it. It’s being able to live as though law doesn’t apply to them (and it often doesn’t).
The fact that there are plenty of middle income and poor men who get caught having sexual affairs with minors or girls under the legal age of consent suggests that this phenomenon isn’t simply a product of being rich enough to buy a consequence-free life. There is obviously a certain subset of men in the world who have such proclivities regardless of wealth or status. Are these uber-wealthy abusers simply representative of that subset? Or does their extreme financial dysmorphia drive them to keep pushing their limits until there are so few rules left that sexual limits are the only ones that remain, and they just can’t resist breaking that last rule? Whichever the case may be, it’s interesting that whenever another of them gets exposed, nobody is surprised at all. If anything, we’ve come to expect it of them. Are we not surprised because they’re super rich, because they’re men, or both?
