Superman Has Always Been Woke [1]

I find it funny that MAGA is all upset that Superman is woke. He has always been woke.

First, let’s define woke. According to Merriam-Webster, woke is aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).

Superman started as a comic strip in the late 1930s just as Hitler and Germany were beginning to roll through Europe. The strip was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two American Jews. Their parents were immigrants. Although Superman was an alien from another planet, Siegel and Shuster wanted Superman to reflect the best of America. Superman always reflected American ideals — truth, justice, and the American Way.

Superman, since the earliest comics, fought the little guy—the guy who the fat cats or criminals were pushing around. In the Superman II movie, he stood up for the waitress who was being harassed by the trucker who was full of himself. As Clark Kent, he wrote about truth and exposing corruption. The S on his suit stands for the Kryptonian symbol of hope. In the most recent movie, Superman stops a war because “people were going to die.” This is the compassion that Superman has consistently shown over the decades. In some of the movies and TV series, Smallville, we see Superman’s adoptive parents instilling humility and compassion in him. He has the strongest moral compass. With great power comes great responsibility, and Superman embodies this axiom. He understands the immense impact of his abilities and uses them responsibly, always prioritizing the welfare of others and never abusing his strength. Superman has always been about creating a better tomorrow or hope for the future. He wants us to live together in harmony. Woke, WOKE, WOKE!!!
