Russian stuff blowing up: Trump gives Russia 50 days to make a peace deal [1]

Today was heralded as big beautiful announcement day for Trump regarding Russia and Ukraine.

So this morning during a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte he gives Russia 50 days to reach a deal …. or else. And he means it this time. 😂

x Donald Trump has threatened Russia with 100 per cent secondary tariffs if the war in Ukraine does not end soon, as he announced an agreement with Nato allies to send more weapons to Kyiv. on.ft.com/4kCokUO via @financialtimes.com

The hardest part of this to believe is that he actually goes home to his wife.

x I speak to Putin a lot about getting this done, and I always hang up and say, "That was a nice phone call." I go home and tell the First Lady, "I spoke with Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation." She says, "Oh, really? Another city was just bombed."

Trump has already said he’ll allow more Patriots to go to Ukraine. In fact, he mentioned 17 Patriot systems this morning, which I think must be him being confused again.

x President Trump said Patriot batteries and missiles will arrive in #Ukraine "very soon, within days" "We have one country that has 17 Patriots getting ready to be shipped. They're not going to need them. The 17 will go,or a big portion of the 17 will go to the war site. That could be done very quickly"

Anyway, now he is allegedly considering sending long-range cruise missiles.

x Military Watch Magazine reports that Trump is considering the possibility of supplying Ukraine with long-range JASSM missiles. The basic version has a range of approximately 370 km, while the JASSM-ER modification can reach up to 1,000 km.

A Scooby van sits abandoned on an open road, loaded with ammo and with the doors open. You'd think someone wanted to see it get blown to bits.

A Ukrainian ground drone engages Russians

x YouTube Video

I think this qualifies as a friendly fire incident.

x ⚡️ A Belarusian Mi-24 helicopter shot down a Russian drone headed for Ukraine. The drone crashed in Belarus’s Homiel region. No comment yet from Minsk.

What strikes about videos like this is how folks who are near the explosion either walking or in cars just go about their business.

NATO might have been hiding in all that wheat.

x Russia cynically destroys wheat fields in Kharkiv Region This afternoon, Russian aircraft launched another insidious attack, this time targeting a wheat field near the village of Shevchenkove in the Kupyansk district. A guided aerial bomb hit the field, setting 60 hectares of wheat ablaze.

Russia has solved the problem of its vehicles getting blown up by drones — start walking.

x 1/ A Russian platoon commander recounts on video how he is walking 28 km between frontline and rear positions due to Ukrainian drones suppressing vehicle movements. He says his unit has lost 37 out of 40 men in only two weeks of assault operations. ⬇️

2/ In the video, a Russian soldier can be seen walking across what appears to be open ground, likely in eastern or southern Ukraine. It's clearly very hot – "today it's unbearable". (Temperatures in the region are currently up to 34°C (94F).) 3/ He says; "I went to the rear again… I, fuck! Yes, I'm a platoon commander, I’m going because I don’t have any fighters. We have two guys at the very front pulling out 200s [dead bodies]. Now I have to go to the rear, and the command [post]." 4/ The man says that he has to walk 28 kilometers to get to the rear, highlighting how Ukrainian drones are successfully suppressing Russian vehicle movements for a long way behind the front line (see the thread below for more on this). 5/ He went to the front line to deliver essential supplies, but was walking back on his own because he was only one of three men – out of 40 – who were left in his unit after relentless Ukrainian attacks.

There are so many Ukrainian drones in the air that Russian armor is being described as ‘’close to zero efficiency.’’

x 1/ Russian warbloggers say that an overwhelming number of Ukrainian drones, along with an excessive Russian reliance on asphalt roads, is causing severe disruption of Russian logistics. Armoured vehicles have been reduced to "close to zero efficiency". ⬇️

2/ 'Witnesses of Bayraktar' writes: ‘’Drones are ruining our logistics. Strongholds 5 km from the front are already left without supplies, and this is in the presence of dense foliage. Why is this happening?" 3/ "Despite the wide front, we are sending logistics along asphalt roads, of which there are frankly few. There are a lot of forests and windbreaks around, but supplies are rushing along the asphalt. 4/ "The fewer roads, the greater the efficiency of waiting drones [i.e. drones that have been landed on the road waiting in ambush for a passing vehicle]. If several brigades receive supplies along one road, then the efficiency of such drones will tend to 100 percent. 5/ "In the summer, there is no problem laying a hundred alternative roads, but our engineers are frankly sloppy. All counteraction to drones is mainly built on electronic warfare.

Ukraine now has a female prime minister.

x New: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had nominated first deputy prime minister Yulia Svyrydenko to lead his cabinet and “significantly renew its work”, in the most notable shake-up of his government since Russia’s full-scale invasion. www.ft.com/content/c235...

Ukraine’s current defense minister to be the ambassador to the U.S.

x ‼️ Major reshuffle coming: PM Shmyhal to become Defense Minister, Umerov to be named ambassador to the U.S. Education, Economy, Social Policy, and possibly Energy Ministers to be replaced. Ministry of Reintegration to be dissolved — MP Zhelezniak.

Bad idea, especially the part where a private firm would handle it.

The Beretta AR70/90 is standard issue for the Italian army and uses standard NATO ammunition.

Lithuania and The Philippines? That’s an odd pairing for a defense agreement.

A Spanish company has circumvented international sanctions to deliver a 110-ton forging machine to Russia, which can potentially be used in the production of artillery barrels. The Insider reported on this. According to the investigation, the Spanish firm Forward Technical Trade SL supplied a used CNC forging machine – manufactured by the Austrian company GFE (Gesellschaft für Fertigungstechnik und Entwicklung Schmalkalden e.V.) – to the Russian company AZK Group.
