The Big, Ugly Abomination [1]

Immediately after the House voted to approve the Senate version of the Reconciliation bill I wrote a letter to the editor of my local newspaper. It was driven not only by the vote, but also by dark money ads praising Rep. Ryan MacKenzie (PA-7) for supporting all the alleged wonderfulness of this bill.
I noted that the bill will shovel a ton of money into the laps of those who already have a ton of money. I also noted that I personally might benefit from the tax cuts BUT for me, as a retired United Church of Christ pastor, it feels like I have been handed thirty pieces of silver to betray both those who need SNAP and Medicaid to help ends and future generations upon whom we will pile up debt and leave behind a ruined world by failing to address climate change.
My verdict on the bill is that it’s an abomination.
