New Day Cafe: Cruising Iowa [1]

Good morning, Newdists! I’ve been busy this weekend, with the release of Iowa in the American Truck Simulator game I play. Every time a new state is released, there is an accompanying “Cruising [New State]” event in which we’re supposed to haul loads to or from each of the major cities in the state. As a reward, we usually get some kind of special item to put in our trucks. There were 12 major cities in Iowa, and I knocked them all out in a weekend, as I usually do (I don’t like these things hanging over me).
I thought I’d share the Bluesky screenshot highlights from my Hawkeye State hauls this weekend. If any of them stick out to you, feel free to click and embiggen, and the alt text will give you the context/location (if I can remember it). I really enjoyed virtually driving all over Iowa. While no state can be perfectly captured in a game like this, the developers take a lot of care to capture the heart and soul of each state, and I feel like I got a good taste of Iowa! The truck in the below screenshots is probably my favorite truck currently—one I love so much that I sometimes forget it’s not real, lol. I call it Sapphira because of the sexy metallic royal blue paintjob. Don’t judge.
x First #CruisingIowa haul completed! I hauled a load of soybeans from Columbus, NE all the way to the mighty Mississippi in Davenport (with a quick stop for service at the huge Iowa 80 truck stop). I can already tell @scssoft.com did an incredible job with this DLC! 😍 #AmericanTruckSimulator #ATS

x Sapphira hauls a tanker full of crude oil from Davenport to Des Moines for our second #CruisingIowa haul 🛢️🚚 I really love Des Moines in this game. The Iowa State Capitol remains one of my favorite state capitols (if not my #1 favorite) in the country 😍 #AmericanTruckSimulator #ATS

x Two quick #CruisingIowa hauls, and I'm officially a third of the way done! Sapphira hauled a municipal truck from Des Moines to Mason City, and then chlorine to Fort Dodge. I also got to see the world's largest grain bins! Can confirm, they are quite large 😂 #AmericanTruckSimulator #ATS

x Two more hauls last night, and I'm halfway done with #CruisingIowa! First, Sapphira hauled a backhoe loader from Fort Dodge to Burlington. Then, a wind turbine tower from Burlington to Cedar Rapids. I'm really loving Iowa so far! 😍 #AmericanTruckSimulator #ATS
