Opinions of immigration are changing. [1]

This is really interesting to me.
Per Gallup the percentage of people who viewed immigration positively went from 55 percent in 2024 to 79 percent now.
Also Trump has a 62 percent negative to 36 percent positive spliit on how he’s handling immigration.
There is an article in the WP about it that interprets:
“The Trump administration’s swift and visible response appears to have defused that concern, particularly among Republicans,” wrote Lydia Saad, Gallup’s director of U.S. Social Research. “As a result, Americans’ attitudes on immigration have largely returned to where they stood before the recent border surge, marked by broader appreciation for immigration, less desire to reduce it, and more support for pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.”

But my response is “REALLY?”
What do you guys think?
To me I see Fox and the right play up this big immigrant invasion and blame the dems. They use the excuse of criminal immigrants. Then the mainstream media and then centrist dems start saying we aren’t doing enough and about half the party turns on Biden and runs the other way.
Then we have protestors slamming ICE. Plenty of examples of normal people being deported, a lot of times from their jobs or church. Dem politicians in blue cities and citizens complaining about it. A few brave ones at the national level joining in.
To me it seems like we can affect public opinion but as long as half the party runs from the issues it divides and conquers our power to shift perceptions. The GOP when confronted doubles down. When we are attacked about half the dem politicians turn and attack the other half.
