It is simply stunning that someone who is an immigrant would support Donald Trump, even if he can’t vote. Why would he think that Trump’s tactics would never touch him and his family?
Quick recap: New Hampshire resident Chris Landry is from Canada. He holds a valid green card and has lived in Peterborough for decades. He has a couple of minor criminal convictions, for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license from about 20 years ago.
He visits Canada at least once a year, presumably to see relatives there. He has several American children. While returning from Canada via the US border crossing in Houlton, Maine, he was detained by Border Agents and forced to return to Canada.
Apparently, the Trump Administration, led by a guy with 34 felonies, does not consider Landry’s two minor convictions to actually be minor.
Landry will have to appeal to an immigration judge to gain re-entry to the US, his family, and his life, something that is not a certainty.
He supported Trump.
“I’ve been torn from my family. My life has been disregarded completely,” he complained.
He apparently had no problem with other people being torn from their families and lives they had built in the US. He just did not think it would happen to him.
Now he says he's not so sure about his support for Trump.
