Russian stuff blowing up: Russia loses 31,000 troops in just two months [1]

Turning a tank into an armored barn doesn’t do any good if you can’t stop it from being whacked by 60 drones.

x 🤯 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade needed about 60 drones to destroy another Russian Mega-tank. It is difficult to find a weak spot to hit such giants. In addition, they are often stuffed with all sorts of electronic warfare inside.

This thread starts out discussing Russian plans for a late summer offensive.

It talks about how North Korean troops will take over border guard duties to free up Russian troops for a push deep into the Sumy, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The offensive would also aim to capture Odesa on the Black Sea coast.

Then it quotes one of Igor Girkin’s old co-conspirators in the Donetsk People’s Republic, who says these people are living in Fantasyland if they think this will work.

He makes a reference to two big military disasters from WWI — Passchendaele, which was a major battle in western Belgium that killed half a million allied/German troops and inspired the poem “In Flanders Field.”

And the Nivelle Massacre, which was an ill-fated French offensive in WWI that led to 40k French casualties in just three days and mutinies among army units.

x 7/ "According to the source, Russia should have enough resources for such an operation.” Maxim Kalashnikov, a nationalist author and agitator who co-founded the Club of Angry Patriots with the jailed Igor Girkin, is very sceptical. He writes:

8/ "I consider this practically fantastical. Even if 30,000 North Koreans replace our border guards, a major offensive (with forcing the [crossing of the] Dnipro!) will not work. 9/ "1. The issue of paralysing the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by an air operation has not been resolved. The command and supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not been destroyed. 10/ "2. Therefore, the issue of the enemy's mass use of drones, creating a "death zone" fifty miles from the "ribbon" [border], has not been resolved. 11/ "That is, the enemy will inflict monstrous losses on our equipment and infantry, turning our attempts to advance into something like Passchendaele or the "Nivelle massacre" in WWI, while holding the line with fairly stretched forces. 12/ "Our quantitative superiority (but not qualitative and not in terms of the organisation of drones) does not solve the problem. We have not put our Air Force in order and therefore do not ensure the isolation of local areas of combat operations. 13/ "Therefore - what kind of push to Odesa can there be? Only the slow squeezing out of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at an extremely high price. Otherwise, the flabby system, permeated with nepotism and simony, corruption and inertia, cannot conduct a military operation. 14/ "One thing is certain: summer is the last attempt. Then the raging crisis in the Russian economy puts an end to the country's ability to wage war. Both Ukraine and the Russian Federation are running out of steam. 15/ "No "cosmetic edits" can fix the tangle of obvious missed opportunities and complete disregard for the experience of modern wars that has wound up since 2014 and since 2022. 16/ "It's too late to drink Borjomi [mineral water] when your kidneys have failed. So we'll have to do as Trump wants..." /end

Thor must be Ukrainian.

Another substation on fire.

Rubio met with Lavrov in Kuala Lumpur during a conference in Malaysia. Russia fed him some fresh bullshit and Rubio lapped it up.

x 🤔🇺🇸 "Russia offered a 'new and different approach' during today's talks. I wouldn't call it a guarantee of peace, but it's a concept I'll be conveying to Trump today," Rubio said.

The UK steps up.

x 🇬🇧🇺🇦 The UK will supply Ukraine with 5,000 anti-aircraft missiles as part of a $3.4 billion loan with a repayment period of 19 years.

Only 920 Russians this time, but 11 tanks.

Russia has lost 31k troops in just two months.

x ‼️ The Economist: Summer offensive was the deadliest for Russia in the entire war. ▪️~31,000 Russian troops have died at the front since May 1. ▪️Russia overall has lost between 900,000 and 1.3 million people by the beginning of July, of which between 190,000 and 350,000 have died.

[image or embed] — The Ukrainian Review (@theukrainianreview.bsky.social) July 10, 2025 at 3:31 AM

▪️Over the past year, Russia has sacrificed the life of one soldier to advance an average of 0.038 square kilometers. ▪️~73,000 to 140,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the beginning of the invasion.

Good riddance. He was a worthless piece of 💩 and he got what was coming to him.

At least the Russian Transportation Minister had a nice funeral.

x At least 10 members of the Russian federal government turned up for the wake of the late transit minister Roman Starovoit. Putin, who didn't go, sent a wreath, reported RIA Novosti, which then promptly withdrew the news flash as "a mistake". Mysterious. meduza.io/news/2025/07...

Litter pickup duty has to be better than lead dog in a meat assault.

x “Our command is f*cked up and our assignments are f*cked up. There’s nothing good here and there’s no reason to be here.” - says a Russian soldier who was ordered to gather leaflets with surrender instructions dropped by the AFU before his comrades could see them.

There has been a lot of speculation about Russia’s summer offensive. So far that offensive has been largely directed at Ukrainian civilians in cities across the country.

x Russia struck Kyiv for nearly 10 hours on 10 July, killing a 22-year-old policewoman and a 68-year-old woman. At least 16 injured. Fires and damage reported in 8 city districts, Kyiv Oblast, and Poltava. euromaidanpress.com/2025/07/10/r...

A Ukrainian security service officer was gunned down.

x ⚡️ SBU officer shot dead in Kyiv. A Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officer was murdered on July 10 in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, the SBU's press service told the Kyiv Independent after a reported shooting in the district.

x An officer of the Ukrainian SBU security service's Alpha special forces unit has been shot dead in Kyiv, officials tell me. The victim was IDd as Ivan Voronych. The SBU said a murder case has been opened and its agents along with National Police are investigating and working to hunt down the shooter — Christopher Miller (@christopherjm.ft.com) July 10, 2025 at 5:29 AM

I don’t feel sorry for this dude. He signed up for the war.

And instead of fragging the major general, he’ll likely go off on the meat assault like a good sheep.

x 1/ A former Russian police officer who is preparing for his imminent murder in Ukraine has recorded a farewell video explaining the circumstances of his death to his relatives. He says that a Russian major general has ordered that he is to die on the front line. ⬇️

[image or embed] — ChrisO_wiki (@chriso-wiki.bsky.social) July 10, 2025 at 1:04 AM

2/ The video features a man named Mark Erikovich Sadykov, who says that because of some unspecified dispute, he was demoted and transferred to the 111th Regiment of the 9th Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade on the orders of "Major General Solovyov". 3/ (This may be a reference to Major General Igor Petrovich Solovyov, an FSB officer who has commanded an FSB special forces unit.) Sadykov says he was a military police employee for seven years and a graduate of the prestigious Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School. 4/ His new comrades in the 111th Regiment were "surprised" to see someone of his former rank and experience in such a subordinate position, "but then they made inquiries, and the order came from above. I am here to be reset [executed]." …. 8/ “Tomorrow they’re taking me to the line of contact, and all the local guys here said that the order for you is to go one way. No one will pull you out. They’ll zero you out there. Even if you get 300 [wounded], say, from the enemy, no one will pull you out.” 9/ He says that he is being held in a house in Donetsk and is unable to escape because the exit has been blocked by a car. He accuses Solovyov and the 9th Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade's personnel chief of arranging his death.

Since the start of the war many of the international volunteers fighting for Ukraine have been from Colombia.

x A Colombian assault company named R.U.G. has been formed within the 47th Mechanized Brigade. Its members are primarily Colombians, but it also includes volunteers from Peru, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Italy, and Mexico.

He’s fired up.

Good ole Vlad Solovyov can always be counted on to threaten nuclear annihilation. In this clip he brings up the CNN story about Trump threatening to bomb the shit out of Moscow and Beijing and says Americans are animals who will be wiped out by mighty Russia’s nuclear submarines.

He also rubs it in about the Epstein files.

x Meanwhile in Russia: Trump's new tone hit Putin's propagandists like a ton of bricks. Vladimir Solovyov became enraged, referred to Americans as "animals" and threatened the United States with nuclear destruction.

This is from the comments to the above video:

x Russians do this all the time. When Russians order pizza and it arrives late, they fly into a rage and threaten the pizza delivery boy with nuclear annihilation. — Samuel Spade (@samspade1941.bsky.social) July 9, 2025 at 2:38 PM

An inspiring view.
