Protect your vote! [1]

Apparently a lot of people have been stricken from voter rolls lately in a conservative push to control elections. I almost lost my vote once — I was registered in one State, and then moved to another— I registered just after changing my driver’s license, but a few months later got a call from the local official saying he’d taken me off because he thought I was registered in the other state! Lucky me. I assumed without checking. It still gives me chills.
Please check on your voter registration wherever you live! Look it up (if online, great) to make sure you haven’t been removed for any reason. Your Secretary of State should have your registration on file, and it should be available in your county. If you have been removed (apparently notice isn’t necessary), find out why and re-register with whatever new information, like a change of address, is needed. It is a good idea to have your birth certificate on hand, and if you don’t, check with the vital records office in your birth state. You will need to fill out an application saying who your parents are (or were), where you were born, and maybe pay a fee.
If your vote is safe, consider helping someone else.
Thanks for being an American who votes; it’s the foundation to everything we value!
