Mexico Answers The Call As Texas Struggles To Save Lives After A Devastating Flood

I am in tears again.
because we KNOW! who is coming to rebuild the Hill country camps.
We know the people climbing though brush looking for bodies are Mexican American and Mexican. Of course, there are White folks and many Black folks helping, too. But I am saying, any serious rebuilding will involve many workers with the ability to work in the very hottest time in Texas.

We know who came to New Orleans to rebuild after Katrina. We know how officials looked the other way while Mexican Americans and Mexicans toil to put back what was torn asunder. Hurricane after hurricane come the builders. The people who know how to put things back together.
With more than 12 million people, Texas' Hispanic and Latino population makes up 40% of the state's total population. As the largest ethnic minority, Hispanic Texans profoundly influence the state's cultural, economic, and political landscapes.
So while ICE is chasing Mexican American citizens and Hispanic immigrants because of hatred, we watch as poor people clean our space, care for our children, feed us and fix our homes in TEXAS.
Hill country homes don’t clean themselves.
So many of the poor folks in the flooding areas were workers that kept “The Hill Country Life” going.
My thoughts are for them, too.
We are all connected.
