Metropolitan turnout in 2024 [1]

Playing around with some 2024 election data, specifically Ohio, shows metro centers with significantly lower turnout than surrounding burbs and exurbs. That’s somewhat generally expected, but maybe 2024 was a little worse than normal. In Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland, turnout was 71% in 2020 but only 65% in 2024. Overall turnout in Ohio slipped a little from 2020 to 2024, but not by that much, 74.0% to 71.7%. So metro area turnout slumped disproportionately more than overall turnout.



A demographic map of the area shows that the lowest turnout areas are generally minority-majority.
