Who to Blame? Climate Change Deniers [1]

Climate change deniers should receive the blame for the loss of life in the Texas flood.
They said there was no such thing as global warming — no need to prepare for extreme weather — no need to get ready for the coming change in our environment.
Though the Weather Service personnel, the local first responders, etc., are easy targets, they are not to blame.
They had little opportunity to communicate what was coming as the flood approached.
Tropical Storm Barry collected moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and pushed it into Texas until another storm blocked farther movement, and locked the mountain of airborne water in place. Then the skies opened and the water fell.
We don’t have words that can really describe a storm that can quickly deliver as much as 15 inches of rain over a wide area. “Atmospheric river” might come close, but it’s not perfect. It doesn’t really give a sense of the destructive risk. And people wouldn’t really understand the term.
If you have no way to communicate the danger, then people won’t understand what you are trying to warn them about.
And I’m sorry to say that Secretary Noem may have been partially right. She said that civil servants tried to use outdated methods to communicate with people. It certainly didn’t occur to her that she was responsible for providing a better method to communicate.
As the oceans warm, the weather is going to get worse. We need to get rid of these climate-change deniers and provide the best resources we can to protect the public.
The deniers are bought-and-paid-for by the fossil fuel industry. We need to eliminate their murderous influence over our government.
