A Day of Patriotism? Independence? Freedom? [1]

Like many today, perhaps millions after reading through comments on a couple of YouGov daily polls, I am not in a celebratory mood. To say the very least. On the heels of the passing of the Big Bunch of Bullshit, today feels like a funeral.
No US flag outside the house, no posting happy greetings on social media, no plans to partake in any festivities whatsoever.
I am feeling numb, yet angry. Sad and extremely disappointed. And yeah, a little hopeless. I mean realistically speaking, less than half the country voted for this (considering the people who are citizens but didn’t vote — yes I know we also say that not voting was a vote for the felon, but not to digress).
Yet, the minority who support this are the loudest bullies of all, seemingly drowning us in their idiocy and complete lack of fact-checking. Our Democrat leaders seem to have their hearts in the right place, the law on their side, and the will to do good things, but lack the muscle and aggression that is apparently now required. So we keep getting steamrolled by a lawless orange draft dodger with a cruel bully agenda and his unfit, unqualified kool-aid drinking dingleberries.
I have zero interest in conversing with these people. You can’t reason with the unreasonable. With this second dose of trump, the estrangement between “them” and “us” has grown so severe it will not be healed. I have strong doubt it can even be treated, or resolved in any way, through compromise or just plain old common sense and logic. The orange fever will remain high as long as he is sucking precious oxygen from our atmosphere.
Today, I just needed the comfort of like minds and found it among some of the comments on two most recent daily YouGov polls I participated in.
You probably guessed the two topics, but for clarification they are reaction to the BB of BS, and thoughts about July 4th. I can relate to almost all of these and thought I would share some of them here.
Food for thought…right or wrong, this is how regular people are feeling today. (I corrected no misspellings or grammatical errors)
Various comments:
----------
We say we are pro life, but as a country we do not provide adequate health care or nutrition to children. We say we are needing workers, yet we are deporting immigrants who are non violent and work hard at jobs Americans won’t do. We say we are pro small business owner yet they are encumbered with much more tax burden than the big corporations. GOP wants votes from red states but then pass a bill that will shut down rural hospitals where they live. This bill is not what was needed. Too bad our Congress does not know how to create bills together and compromise.
----------
If we returned the taxation level on the wealthy and corporations to where it was during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations, we would be able to afford social programs, and even universal health care and better help with higher education. This Abominable Bill will gut environmental progress, repoison the air and water, put us behind the rest of the world in the use of renewable energy, make us a sicker, poorer, and more uneducated nation.
----------
We should not be asking the most vulnerable to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. Our nation once taxed the wealthy and this enabled us to build the interstate highway system, provide for rural electrification, put a man on the moon. Now we give the wealthy tax cuts and destroy our health care system, shut down rural hospitals, bankrupt farmers, close young people out of educational opportunities. We are devolving into a third-world nation. We need clean energy, not just because it's the right thing to do for the planet (which should be enough!) but also because it is good business -- world trade/economy demands clean energy. Isn't it good business to give customers what they want?? Trump wa ts to ha d American exceptionalism off to China, let them control the world? Let them make technological breakthroughs While we let young people with potential go without educational opportunites because their families can't afford higher education? In what universe does any of this make sense?
----------
The people who passed this bill have blood on their hands. They are literally murdering people. Elderly citizens who gave to this country foe DECADES will be turned away feom the care they need now. Families will go hungry. People will lose jobs. Such an evil bill, and everyone who said yes to it is evil, as well. Trump needs to go fuck himself.
----------
This bill makes permanent a large tax cut for the richest Americans by decimating the social safety net for the poorest and most vulnerable Americans. It is obscene, immoral, and shameful.
----------
Eliminating health care and food for the poor in order to give some more corporate welfare to billionaires is immoral.
----------
Hard to celebrate Freedom and Independence from the Oppression of a Tyrannical Government, when we're losing Freedoms to, and being Oppressed by, a Tyrannical Government.
----------
I don't think it's worth celebrating this year. 13 million people kicked off their insurance and maybe their nursing homes, imprisoning people without due process, building concentration camps, arresting disabled veteran's in the capitol for exercising their right to peacefully assemble and protest our Nazi Congress, putting puppy killers in charge of locking up people with brown skin, sending our Armed Force out against American citizen's, all while the Nazi- in -chief flies to fake wrestling and cheats at golf at the taxpayer's expense. Never has government of, by and for the People meant less than this July 4th.
----------
We have a criminal in the White House with values only a self serving traitor could understand.
----------
I’m not celebrating this year. Instead I am mourning the death of a country. Reflecting on the things I may never see again and truly sad. Feeling ashamed and wondering why so many are still supporting this administration.
----------
I am looking forward to my 1st 4th of July living abroad as a citizen of another country, away from this hellish fascist shithole. Unfortunately I can't leave yet, but I long for the day I can and set my family and myself free.
----------
Shame.....I feel shame
----------
My mood today is overwhelming dread, and it will stay that way until the felon in The White House and his sycophants are gone, in jail or dead, at this point I will be happy with either.
----------
What I feel is shame. I’m ashamed our country gave power to these awful people. Trump’s a moron, but the people he’s allowing to pull his strings are anti-American, racist, dishonorable, power-hungry monsters. I cannot celebrate
----------
Yesterday, our democracy was voted out by a cowardly party of fascist formerly known as the Republican party. The idea that they would condone, excuse and now pay for literal concentration camps on US soil is treasonous and goes against EVERYTHING we ever stood for as a nation.
