Want Rights? Reform the Supreme Court or Else We're Toast [1]

It has come to our attention in the U.S. that our Supreme Court has become a rouge branch of our government that at this point is apparently radicalized by the political climate and is currently following an agenda that is inconsistent with the constitution and the public good.
Though there are nine justices reasonable jurisprudence has been left to the left leaning three justices, while the other six justices revel in their power to edit the constitution with impunity. This is not how the court is supposed to work.

The old idea that justices must be free from outside interference, the independent judiciary, has proven to be problematic with SCOTUS and it has morphed into a sense of omnipotence for the current court.
It is a decided sense of untouchability that six of the current justices, the Hateful Six, employ to reshape constitutional protections and eliminate what once were considered bedrock rights and constitutional understandings in our country.
We cannot continue with this court if we want to continue to live with the rights we hold dear and have been watching this court erode wholesale, particularly since the Citizen United decision where the court relitigated the case to allow unbridled money in American politics.
SCOTUS is but one problem in this latest authoritarian coup, however they are the final bulwark against unconstitutional behavior and lawlessness and thus far they have gone alarmingly far in supporting just that from the Trump Administration.
The Supreme Court Sides with Trump Against the Judiciary
SCOTUS has abdicated their responsibilities to the country, and they have become victims, as have we, of their personal political beliefs.
Justices can have but one loyalty and that is to the constitution. The Hateful Six have failed greatly in that regard, and they are proud of it
These reform ideas are not exactly new but here are the reforms I would propose.
Proposed SCOTUS Reforms
The court should be expanded to 12 seats replicating the number of circuits in the federal district courts, and each justice will supervise a circuit. Mandatory retirement at 70 years old The confirmation system must be scraped and, in its stead, should be either an elective system from the populace, or a new process that eliminates the politics of left v right appointments. Justices should be nominated solely for their judicial excellence and not their radical views that they lie about anyway to get confirmed. The federalist society and any other body interfering with judicial appointments should be outlawed. Justices should have a hard and enforceable code of conduct and clear mechanics in place for removal for cause Terms shall be limited to 10 -15 years unless retirement age precludes that possibility. - The shadow docket will be eliminated and all judgments will have the same attention and transparency. Emergency appeals will no longer be entertained from the executive branch.
Justices are not gods; however, it would seem as though the Hateful Six have assumed that very role with exuberance.
Both historically and in modernity we have unwisely positioned the Supreme Court to such an exalted position that even as they betray the constitution and us citizens in droves, we have no way to say no to their increasingly partisan display of contempt for the populace and the document
The document was meant to protect us from the powerful miscreants of which they now also belong. Yes, we need relief from the Court and their decisions.These reforms are both necessary and if unheeded will likely be fatal to the constitution.
We can debate over the exact reforms, but we have to make this a key part of project 2029 otherwise the Supreme Court is going to declare everything we do to correct the wrongs of MAGA invalid. They might even try to Third Term Trump from the bench
The Hateful Six have lost all sense of reason and responsibility and they seem intent on turning this country into some sort of quasi theocracy with another authoritarian like Trump to take the place of the last one when need be.
It is a sick reality that I don’t want to live in. I have followed the court closely since Thomas was appointed and it has never fulfilled its promise to keep us safe from tyranny. Instead, it eventually got stacked by McConnell in what was obviously a grave dereliction of duty to produce Gorsuch and Barrett, two of the Hateful Six.

We may never get past this coup but if somehow do and we last through these four years and come in with a new direction at the end we must be ready to restore our constitutional democracy in every way we can, and make it stronger too, by reforming the court to make sure they can never support a dictator again.
The Daily Kos has a lot of educated and informed people. It’s my hope that you guys share your understandings and help promote a game plan and help to foment a reform agenda for the court because there will be a huge amount of push back on any ideas about SCOTUS reform from all corners of the establishment.
We have already rejected tyranny once. Together, we the people, can get it done.
