At around 10:30 pm I received an outrageous message from the Social Security Administration telling me what a great deal the big bad budget bill is for old folks—part, I’m sure, of what will be a sustained effort on the part of this corrupt regime to convince us everything is just great. I cannot believe they had the nerve to do this. They didn’t even have the decency to wait until the smoke cleared after Congress voted to destroy the country.

Here are some excerpts. I don’t know if the rules of the road here allow me to quote the whole letter. Undoubtedly you’ll get the letter, too, if you are a Social Security recipient.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans. … “This is a historic step forward for America’s seniors,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano. “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By significantly reducing the tax burden on benefits, this legislation reaffirms President Trump’s promise to protect Social Security and helps ensure that seniors can better enjoy the retirement they’ve earned." ...

Of course if you’ve been depending on Medicaid for medical and/or nursing home care, so sorry—you’re out of luck. If you’ve been able to feed yourself with SNAP benefits, so sorry—you’re out of luck. Sadly, with the passage of that horrible bill, we’re all out of luck.

“The point is the cruelty” should the slogan of the Trump regime.
