“What’s wrong with you people?” [1]

This quote from Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), the ranking member on the House Rules Committee, encapsulated today’s Republican party on the floor of the House today:

“I say to my Republican colleagues, “What’s wrong with you people? In this bill you provide a $2 billion tax break for gun silencers but you cut SNAP benefits for vulnerable families which, by the way, is on average $2 per person, per meal. Jesus Christ, what are you people thinking? “ [Everytown for Gun Safety estimates the silencer provision would cost $1.5 billion.]

My only quibble with this is the soft language referring to his “colleagues.” Republican members of Congress have demonstrated over, and over, and over again, that they don’t deserve to be viewed as merely “colleagues.” Or “friends.” Or “good people.” Or “pals on the other side of the aisle.” They lost that privilege a long, long time ago.

They are traitors who enthusiastically support a lawless, corrupt, profoundly bigoted, cruel coup leader and convicted felon who tried to overturn an election and who is undermining the rule of law every day while getting off on terrorizing millions of people — and ripping families apart — around the country. They are spineless cowards. And hypocrites. And liars. Shameless, serial liars. And sadists. And morally bankrupt cultists. And, in some cases, yes, racists. Among other things.

And they alternatively do some combination — or all — of the following : enable, worship, defend, excuse, serve, cater to, promote, honor, deify, slavishly asskiss, meekly defer to, abdicate power to, empower, and cower from a truly depraved, warped, cognitively failing, deeply disturbed POS human being. Not merely a politician or Republican. But a truly vile piece of shit of a human being.



By the transitive property of sanity, this doesn’t make these Republicans “good friends” across the aisle. It defines them for what they are — pretty shitty human beings.

For god’s sake, they value gun silencers much more than they do human lives.

One more recent, very small but telling example of their overall shittiness as human beings:

Yesterday, Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR), who was presiding over the debate this abomination of a bill for part of the day, reprimanded Rep. Josh Riley (D-NY) for “vulgar speak” for having the termerity to blast Republicans for blasting the middle class. The money quote, I think — “Don’t tell me you give a shit about the middle class when all you are doing is shitting on the middle class.”

And “family values guy” Womack directed Riley to “...avoid vulgar speak. We do have families.” His virgin ears and all that.

This ass clown was very offended by the vulgarity of the words “shit” and “shitty” but...

sees zero vulgarity — none — in cutting health care from 12-17 million people, and SNAP benefits for millions more, all to pay for tax cuts which primarily benefit people like white nationalist, Neo-nazi sympathizing Elon Musk and his fellow billionaires.

Nor does he give a shit about the vulgarity of thousands of masked, anonymous, chickenshit unidentified ICE, HSI and other federal agency fascist thugs ripping families — remember, “we do have families” — apart, targeting noncriminals, violently kidnapping people off the streets dressed like they are invading Fallujah.

And of course, there is no vulgarity to be seen in the bigoted, cognitively failing traitor, convicted felon and walking vulgarian who he worships and who is the walking definition of vulgar in both word and deed. Every fucking day.

So Rep. Womack, spare us all the lecture on vulgarity, you hypocritical and shitty, shitty human being.

These are sick, sick fucks. Weak, pathetic, and sick fucks.

And they should be talked about, and treated, as such. Today, tomorrow, and for the foreseeable future until they prove otherwise. Which isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

“What’s wrong with you people?” indeed.
