I think this is a horrible tragedy that we seem to be sleepwalking into. Estimates are that as many as 14 million people, including children, will ultimately die of starvation and disease due to the actions of the Trump Administration, Elon Musk, DOGE and Marco Rubio by shutting down USAID.
Rubio stated triumphantly that we would now be “focused more on trade than aid.”
Uh huh.
Estimates are that over 300,000 people have already died due to the shutdown of USAID. Via NPR.
INSKEEP: Is there evidence of other deaths linked to aid cuts? EMANUEL: Well, it is very hard to pin down precise numbers. In many places, including where this family is from, there isn't a formal system for death certificates. The U.S. had funded efforts to gather this type of data, but aid cuts have disrupted much of that. Now, there are researchers who are trying to get to the bottom of this. INSKEEP: OK. What are they finding? EMANUEL: Well, modeling out of Boston University estimates that the abrupt cuts to USAID have meant nearly 300,000 people have died to date. These are really rough estimates, but they give a sense of scale. Researchers are talking many thousands of deaths, not dozens. The State Department did not respond to requests for comment, but in front of Congress, Marco Rubio pushed back, saying these models are completely inaccurate and maintained that nobody, especially no child, has died on his watch.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio celebrated the end of operations for the U.S. Agency for International Development on Tuesday with a Substack article titled, "Making Foreign Aid Great Again." USAID was the nation's largest foreign aid agency with funding that went toward combatting mortality rates from diseases like AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, as well as nutritional deficiencies and maternal mortality. It was one of the very first agencies targeted by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. According to CNN, a "new analysis finds that its closure could contribute to some 14 million deaths in the next five years," painting "a potentially catastrophic picture of what could come now that USAID has been dismantled and the [Trump] administration is turning away from a lot of these foreign assistance funds." Reporter Jennifer Hansler asked a senior state department official about the analysis, "and they sort of downplayed it. They said that these were based on misassumptions about what the administration was doing, and they claimed that life saving-work would continue."
Let me just cut in briefly here: BULLSHIT!
In his Substack article, Rubio wrote, "As of July 1st, USAID will officially cease to implement foreign assistance. Foreign assistance programs that align with administration policies — and which advance American interests — will be administered by the State Department, where they will be delivered with more accountability, strategy and efficiency." "Rubio said they are going to be focused now more on trade rather than aid," Hansler said. It took less than six months for the Trump administration to make good on its promise to dismantle USAID, Hansler reported, adding that "groups on the ground...said the impact has already been devastating."
14 million dead people. That’s on top of another 11 million worth of people cut off from Medicaid, more cut off from Medicare and another likely 10-15 million undocumented immigrants.
And all we can do is weakly shrug?
A few diaries ago, I stated that I felt some of Trump’s efforts with immigration and mass deportation were potentially worse than the German Holocaust because he was targeting as many as 20 million people.
One commenter became very incensed at that claim and accused me of “Anti-Semitism” for daring to make the comparison of Germany sending millions of people to foreign death camps to Trump trying to send millions of people to foreign death camps only because he was blocked from continuing to do so by the courts.
Now the Supreme Court has turned around and limited the ability of district courts from blocking his actions nationwide. And he’s laughingly announced that he’s opening his own Alligator Auschwitz in Florida. He thinks the people they’re illegally snatching up off the streets — most of whom are innocent of any criminal offense — being killed by snakes and eaten by aligators is fucking “FUNNY!”
Yeah, sorry, but I’m not sorry.
This is worse than Nazi Germany. Much worse. If it all stacks up, it could be worse than Stalin. This is next level fucking evil.
Rubio is smiling as he literally lets millions of children starve and die from malaria, HIV and tuberculosis. He’s fucking gaslighting us all to our faces.
Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem are arrogantly lecturing us about “criminals” when 93% of the people they have their Secret Gestapo are yanking off the street and disappearing haven’t committed a violent crime.
New nonpublic data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicate that the government is primarily detaining individuals with no criminal convictions of any kind. Also, among those with criminal convictions, they are overwhelmingly not the violent offenses that ICE continuously uses to justify its deportation agenda. ICE has shared this data with people outside the agency, who shared the numbers with the Cato Institute. As of June 14, ICE had booked into detention 204,297 individuals (since October 1, 2024, the start of fiscal year 2025). Of those book-ins, 65 percent, or 133,687 individuals, had no criminal convictions. Moreover, more than 93 percent of ICE book-ins were never convicted of any violent offenses. About nine in ten had no convictions for violent or property offenses. Most convictions (53 percent) fell into three main categories: immigration, traffic, or nonviolent vice crimes. The appendix table at the end of this post has data by detailed crime and broad crime categorization.
These are the “violent criminals” that they’re “saving us from?”
Just like Kilmar Abrego Garcia who had no criminal conviction and yet they repeatedly said he was a “gang-banger”, “terrorist”, “wife beater” and “human trafficker” with hardly a shred of evidence. They were ordered to return him by the Supreme Court and they refused to do it. Then, when they finally did do it, it was only to put him on trial for bogus “trafficking” charges because he had driven some of his fellow immigrants to work a few times.
They faked a picture of “MS13” written on his knuckles and the reporter who correctly pointed this out to Trump got fucking Fired by ABC news!
Let that sink in.
ABC caved in to Trump on George Stephanouplos’ statement and Paramount just caved in on the 60 Minutes interview clip of Kamala Harris. These are not good signs. Not at all.
They’ve lied about him time and time again. They’ve lied about ALL these people time and time again.
“They’re eating the cats, eating the dogs.”
We’ve seen this before. It’s a pogrom. It’s Blood Libel.
They’ve taken protective status away from people who came here legally. They’ve yanked the legal visas from people who dared to protest genocide or write an Op-Ed criticizing Israeli policy. They’ve started threatening to take away citizenship from Zohran Mamdani over a few rap lyrics from years ago, and even from Elon Musk for saying he’ll use his money to primary Republicans who voted for the “Big Ugly Bill” both of which are constitutionally protected actions.
They’ve put armed active-duty soldiers in the streets. Like this is fucking Tienamen Square.
Trump has even said that he’d like to deport “homegrown criminals” who were born here. Yes, we all know that’s grossly illegal, but when has that fact stopped him before? And let’s be serious about who he really means and what he’s really talking about here. He means Black and Brown people, because doesn’t the GOP and MAGAs always blame them for “All the crime!?” [Never mind the fact that most of the violent crime happens in the Red States — why do you think we have a million episodes of “Dateline” about the mystery of who killed the dead white woman?]
He means anyone who isn't White.
This isn’t about crime. This isn’t about protecting Americans. This isn’t about fraud, waste or abuse. This is about vicious inhumane cruelty.
This is Ethnic Cleansing and White Supremacy.
Just like Nazi Germany. Worse than Nazi Germany.
