WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING in the DIARY that you LIKE
=====================
======================
Hello and good evening!
kraigo has graciously provided two wonderful links for us to give pointers on writing a diary and critter herding! We hope to make both tasks as simple as possible for anyone who would like to contribute their own style to our Evening Shade. Welcome everyone!
Posting A Diary
Critter Herding
I know you are probably getting tired of our pleas for help, and I’m really sorry. We would be so grateful, though, to have enough writers to bring the workload down to one diary a week for each of us. It is a perfect way to keep up with the bulk of the news and not get burned out. I’m sure you all feel how overwhelming it can be to stay informed. Writing one day a week is so nice, and I really enjoy it. It doesn’t take that much time at all. I always start with the daily observances a few days ahead of time and try to find some witty video to accompany them. That isn’t always possible and I don’t belabor it. I have learned to wait until the day before to start finding stories that will define my theme. It may not seem like it, but I like to have a theme. 🤣 I have been writing since Feb 19th and I’m becoming more comfortable knowing I cannot report on everything that is happening. That’s why I love this community so much. Our shady people bring stories in the comments and it makes a wonderful potluck. The GNR started this format, as far as I know, and we here at the Evening Shade revel in that same camaraderie.
As for critter herding, that is another thing entirely. I think it separates us from almost every other diary. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a precious picture or adorable video, you know the joy it brings. That is a wonderful thing! My hat tip to our indefatigable critter herders!!! You are a special lot and we appreciate you. 🥰
Many of us are just a comment away to provide any additional assistance if you are thinking about joining us. As Nanny told me back when, just click on the Write A Story button at the top of the screen. That is your canvas. Add the title, the Tree picture, and copy and paste the welcoming message. You are on your way!!! You don’t have to publish your diary. Just give it a go and see what you find. 😎 I think making that first move was the hardest for me, but now it seems so simple and full of opportunity.
Let’s get to the Shade, shall we?

'Treating him like a moron who can't read': Expert fed up with excuses for Trump
Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky is losing her patience with people trying to give President Donald Trump an "out" to blame others for what some view as bad policies in his "big, beautiful" budget legislation. ✂️ "They're cutting health care to about 12 million Americans in the next several years. They're shutting down rural hospitals. They're getting rid of the social safety net. They're ballooning the deficit to the point that it will imperil Medicare, Social Security and so on," she said. "They're getting rid of food assistance. They're getting rid of every single aspect of the safety net and the social net that Donald Trump promised to keep. And don't forget, he promised that he would not touch Medicaid, and he promised he wouldn't touch Medicare. And he's touching both of those." Jansing asked if Roginsky thought Trump knows what's going on, implying he's being lied to about what's in the bill. "Why do we keep treating him like a moron who can't read?" ranted Roginsky. "Does he not watch TV? He can maybe turn off Fox News, which is feeding him propaganda that he wanted to hear, and maybe crack open this bill or crack open The New York Times, or crack open some propaganda outlet that will tell him what's in this bill. I mean, we've got to treat him like an adult and stop treating him like a child." ✂️
Ya think? Good grief, this is EXACTLY what the felon wants. He knows exactly what’s in this bill, for crying out loud. More money and attention for him. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE BUT HIMSELF!
Having said that, though, he really is a moron who cannot read.
He has abdicated responsibility to stephen goebbles miller on the deportation front so that SOB’s sick and twisted ideas are fouling our country. It is too horrible to contemplate, but we have to keep pushing back, keep resisting and hold strong. We have more power than any of them. We can and will see this through, together.
The felon is the sorriest excuse of a president this country has ever seen. He and the whole administration and the lying corrupt congress people who are breaking their oaths to the constitution must be held accountable. It will take years, because justice is painfully slow, but it needs to happen.
I fantasize about gaining enough seats in the house and senate to impeach the extreme 6 on the court. Imagine for one minute how amazing that would be!!!
We need to just take one day at a time and keep the promise of democracy front and center. There is so much we can do when we work together.

I am thrilled about Zohran Mamdani’s win in New York and I am stunned at the fallout from it. I shouldn’t be surprised since the far right always want to spread lies and doom wherever they go. I maintain they are scared to death of what this may mean for the midterms and beyond. Good. As for the democrats losing their shit, be gone. You (should) have no power here. Hoping we are in for a rebalancing. It is way past time for there to be equal opportunity for all, the rich to pay their fair share, universal healthcare that is excellent healthcare, a push toward renewable energy, fight against climate change, new discovery, a focus on science, ...We have so much to work towards to make this world better!
✂️ If we take a systemic approach to party politics, it would be surprising if the changes taking place on the right didn’t shape how voters respond to their options on the left. Interest in progressive solutions in the wake of Donald Trump’s right-wing failures will naturally elevate the profile of Democratic Socialists like Mamdani, Sanders and AOC, but it will inevitably touch all components of the center-left and center as voters shop around for better alternatives and Democrats assess their future in the wake of Donald Trump’s rise and eventual fall. There really was no way the Democratic party could be unaffected by Trump’s transformation of the Republican party from a center-right entity to a personality-based reactionary party advocating positions embraced by a minority coalition of ethnonationalists and the super wealthy. By upsetting the longstanding center right/center left positioning of the parties, Trump created the conditions where new voting patterns and new alliances will arise, and New York is one example of how that might look. A disruption of this magnitude was bound to reverberate through the entire system, setting the stage for a reaction on the left that’s potentially equal—and opposite—to how far Trump has moved the country to the right. Mamdani’s rapid rise in New York could be viewed as a consequence of this shift. ✂️ === I love our Joe! 🥰🥰🥰 x Such a dramatic difference

The big ugly bill is going back to the house today and an up or down vote is expected. Despite the many who are saying they don’t have the votes, I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m writing this early morning, so I will update as the day goes on…

The word "disco" originates from the French word "discothèque," which was used to describe a type of nightclub where recorded music was played instead of live bands. The term "discothèque" itself comes from "disque," the French word for "record" or "disc," and the Greek suffix "-thèque," which means a place or repository. Therefore, "discothèque" essentially means a "record library" or "record collection." In the 1960s, as these types of nightclubs became more popular, particularly in France, the term was abbreviated to "disco" in English-speaking countries. By the 1970s, "disco" referred not just to the venues but also to the genre of music characterized by its danceable beats, lush orchestration, and soulful vocals that was specifically crafted for these dance clubs. Disco music and culture quickly spread around the world, leading to the vibrant, glitzy phenomenon we still celebrate today. x x YouTube Video
