Renewable Tuesday: How About an Electric Hospital?! [1]
['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']
Date: 2025-07-01
The new campus includes a 144-bed hospital and an ambulatory care center (ACC). The hospital and ACC are connected at the lower level to create an integrated inpatient and outpatient interventional services platform, consolidating staff, operations and support space. One level above, an entry level plaza serves as a focal point of the campus, accommodating healing gardens, respite, dining and gathering areas with views to the natural preserve. A new all-electric central plant supports the hospital and ACC, a national first in carbon reduction.
So no toxic natgas for heating or cooking, no diesel uninterruptible power. You can see the solar panels on the parking garage roof, but not the battery backup power system or the air source heat pumps.

How about this? The UK has far more than enough wind and solar resources to go 100% renewable on its own, so it doesn’t need power from the Sahara Desert. So how about they get on with it?
Oh, wait, they are.

ITC = Investment Tax Credit
FEOC = Foreign Entity of Concern
If enacted as currently drafted, the Senate Finance Committee’s FEOC restrictions are likely to significantly limit investment into clean energy projects, resulting in decreased U.S. manufacturing and increased Chinese dominance in these supply chains, contrary to their goal.
x Quick takes for #EnergyStorage in the Senate's bill:
* ITC unchanged, available to 2030s
* FEOC content test stricter, now prohibitive of projects w/ FEOC-linked cells from 2026
* FEOC remains onerous and likely unfinanceable Unless FEOC is fixed, is an effective phase out at end of 2025 #energysky

Global Warming
This fact is not news to those who have been paying attention for the last 50 years, but it’s clearly getting worse, with more instances appearing in the MSM.
x Global warming is speeding up — now rising 0.27°C (0.49°F) per decade, up from 0.2°C (0.36°F) in the 1970s. Cleaner air means fewer aerosols to block heat, while clouds may be making things worse. The result? More extremes, faster. It’s not theory anymore. It’s daily life. #climate #globalwarming
