Is the Confederacy Back? [1]

As I assess the current state of our great Nation it appears the South has risen again. The Confederacy is back with a vengeance. The government of hate, cruelty, repression, segregation and rule by the whip (now the gun) has imposed its malignant will on the former Government of, by and for the People. From the renaming of military bases to their former Confederate names to the reestablishment of Confederate statues to impose the subjugation of all other races and the free thoughts of equality of the people. This is the state of the government under Trump. Those appointed to shoulder the burden of justice under the black robes, those meant to judge, arbitrate with impartiality, equality and liberty now capitulate to the bribe, the gift, the graft and the threat of violence from the oval office and the oligarchs. Those who cloak themselves in the words of heritage and society of nobility are shown corrupted by politic and decision. The echoes of slavery ring in the policies, evident in the treatment of the immigrant; the subjugating of a people with violence, the selling of a people to a prison, to whisking them away to a country not of their birth, the rending of their families. The rhymes of history are there in plain sight.

As the Congress is currently seeking to pass Trump’s Big Betrayal Bill. Betraying those who voted for him and the generations of the future. The king of debt has continued those practices he had in private life but now on a grander scale. The words of the past come back to remind us of simple truths, John Adams said “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a country. One by the sword. The other is by debt.”[1] Trump is employing both, his private secret police the DHS forces masked and unidentified attacking and intimidating all to include those in political office. The Cowards of Congress have given away the power of the purse allowing Trump to tax through tariff, rescinding funding, withholding payments and abrogated the responsibilities of oversight by not supporting those who try to conduct oversight, if these representatives do not have the intestinal fortitude to do the job they were hired to do then they should be removed or fired. Every citizen needs to remember that these weaklings were hired by your vote for public service. This is not a private company or a kingdom, this is a democratic Nation.

As I was researching what to say I found a quote from of all people Adolf Hitler that may apply to the United States at this time “What good fortune for governments that the people do not think[2]”. It seemed appropriate to include, as Trump’s administration seeks to eliminate the Department of Education. It seeks to challenge the ability of institutions of learning to accomplish that very mission. I find it so disheartening that so many people vote against their interest, that so many do not consider the depth and breadth of the policies that the GOP/MAGA wants to implement; for example if the GOP has a goal of rescinding DEI protections, if you have a handicap why would you vote for a GOP representative? The GOP does not allow dissent in its ranks. If you’re a minority, why would you vote for a group that defines you as less, less smart, less moral, less ambitious, always less than them. If you’re a woman why would you vote for a group that limits your ability to vote, limits your ability to receive critical healthcare, who criminalizes your sex.

Then there is the fact that Trump is championing parochial schools[3] as Evangelical Christian see Trump as anointed and a champion of the church. In campaign rallies t-shirts and hats were emblazoned with “Jesus is my Savior, Trump is my President” or “Make America Godly Again” as well as “God, Guns and Trump”[4] This is the unification of the political and religious leadership under one flawed figure, and we can see this as a cult. European royalty made sure that they were both the leaders of the state and the leader of the religion. It is why so many came to the new world seeking freedom of religion. Now we see the evangelical Christian community seeking to impose the religious will on the rest of the former free world.

I want a better future for the generations that follow ours. I want them to be aware of those they elect and the goals they want to achieve. I want them to understand what hypocrisy is. I want them to understand what real leadership is. I want the next generations to be able to evaluate the options they are facing. Do the next generations want to go back to a manufacturing base? What does that mean for your future? Historically when we were moving into a manufacturing base we needed more immigrants? Does the next generation want the US to be a world leader? You can’t lead from behind a wall, you can’t lead if you don’t engage and you can’t lead if you are not trusted. Especially as Trump seeks to diminish the United States as a bastion of free thought and opportunity through policies that bar the free exchange of ideas and dissuade foreigner from creating new opportunity in the Nation. It appears that many are rethinking their choices according to a variety of polls, as the new policies of their choices become fact and I see hope in that.
