Threads vs Blue Sky - How algorithms are shaping the world [1]

I’ve come to the conclusion that social media algorithm writers are now among the most influential people on earth. You may say, “Duh”, but I don’t think it was greatly appreciated until recently.

Musk, whose IQ is more than double that of his orange boss, saw it early and leaped in to buy Twitter, thus enabling him to reshuffle the algorithm staff and very likely make all the difference in the 2024 election.

Let me make my case. A few days ago I submitted a post simultaneously on Threads and Blue Sky. It’s important to know that I joined the two sites at the same time, I’m no one special, I don’t pay either site any money, and my ‘follower’ count is only 720 on Threads and 1.8k on Blue Sky.

The results can be seen in the photo introducing this article.

A glance tells me that while Threads let the thing circulate, Blue Sky simply swallowed it. If you believe Threads readers were interested but Blue Sky readers weren’t, then maybe you’re one of those people who believe it’s really possible that a New York voting district went 100% for Orange and zero for Kamala.

It’s said that 60% of people get most of their ‘news’ from social media.

We have a problem!
