Russia and "ethno-criminality" look a lot like Trump's immigration policy [1]

I find this story about Putin’s tactics with immigrant communities (linked at the end of this diary) deeply disturbing in light of Trump’s crackdown on non-white communities.
Putin’s masked police, the violent arrests, and the various other forms of oppression look a lot like ICE in LA. The increase in killing and torturing of non-ethnic Russians has been increasing since Putin began cracking down on immigrant populations about three years ago. It started with political decrees that look very much like Trump’s Executive Orders. To say it won’t happen here is an untenable position.
A term springing from Russian policing language, “ethno-criminality,” has been given formal standing in Russian courts. Words matter and this is a very dangerous word. It provides fake legal justification for targeting entire ethnic groups under the pretext of crime prevention. It is the exact concept Trump is using to justify his crackdown on immigration. It is an attempt by his administration to rebrand racism. It’s likely the Russian shills in Trump’s orbit are whispering the phrase in his ear. He’s trying very hard to get the courts to embrace the concept. Given SCOTUS’s corruption, it is untenable to say he can’t succeed.
With all the guns in our society, it’s likely someone is going to start shooting at Trump’s masked thugs. When that happens, Trump will declare a state of emergency so he can justify the next step. He is already using torture by sending people to places that use torture, or putting people in prisons here that don’t provide for basic needs. The situation is not far from escalation, which will be killing during raids. Can we really say it’s untenable Trump’s ICE Thugs will resort to shooting people?
It’s important we use peaceful resistance. Non-violence is the most effective tool we have. It prevents Trump from escalating the situation. Shooting at ICE or other federal law enforcement will make things worse.
