Not This Sh*t Again!

Corporate Welfare for the Rich, Rugged Capitalism for the Rest of Us

David Fitzsimmons was the Editorial Cartoonist for the Arizona Star until a few years ago.

x

No Place for This Nonsense

x Allowing a for-profit network to spew disinformation 24/7 is mistaking willful deception for free speech. A functioning democracy should reject it as a fraud against its people.

An article in the New Yorker magazine examines Mamdani’s improbable victory over Andrew Cuomo and many other opponents in the NYC Democratic primary for the Mayoral Race.

What Zohran Mamdani’s Defeat of Andrew Cuomo Means for the Democrats On Tuesday, the thirty-three-year-old left-wing mayoral candidate sent an unmissable message to his party: be new. x 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

[image or embed] — Afra Kroon 🇳🇱 (@afrakroon.bsky.social) June 26, 2025 at 10:54 AM Even if Mamdani’s victory was built on the ultimate virtue of local politics—hustle—it also carries an unmissable message for his beleaguered national party — be new. During the long and often difficult years since Obama’s election, the Democrats have mostly worked from the top down and the inside out: the Party’s past three Presidential nominees have been Obama’s Secretary of State, Obama’s Vice-President, and Obama’s Vice-President’s Vice-President. That Mamdani would become the presumptive Democratic nominee (the final result of the ranked-choice abacus is still pending) wasn’t fated at all. Other, more prominent young politicians could have sensed Eric Adams’s and Cuomo’s weaknesses and run… Had any of them decided to run, their candidacies might have suggested a quite different kind of Democratic future. But part of political talent is recognizing an opportunity, and Mamdani saw three things clearly: that the cost of living had surpassed public safety as the city’s cardinal issue, that fortune favors the relentless, and that generational change, however belated, was eventually bound to come.

Good Answer!

x NYC Comptroller Brad Lander: "I don't think the line for the [Democratic] party right now is between progressives and moderates; I think it's between fighters and folders."

One’s a Future Democratic Mayor of New York City; the Other is a Certified Republican Racist

x The last time anyone freaked out this hard over a word they didn’t understand, a woman told Pete Hesgeth “no”.

The KKK Makes an Appearance

A Blast from the Past

Not all Republicans are racist. However, all racists are (almost) always Republican.

x "My mistake . . . I thought this was a John Birch Society meeting!" I'm finishing up a paper on fundamentalism and the anti-communist campaign against the civil rights movement. There were all sorts of links between these various organizations. This 1965 Paul Conrad cartoon is on point.

“Democrats Could Learn Good Lessons from His Campaign”

Winning the Youth Vote in NYC

x Why did Zohran Mamdani win young voters? He went out and met his constituents and met them in their neighborhoods and he’s accessible to everyone. Other Democrats running for office should pay attention.

At Least, Listen to What He Has to Say

Give Him a One-Way Ticket

x This is the racist POS that wants to deport Zohran. I think I would prefer Ogles to be deported.

The Supreme Court of Trump

Off to Summer Vacation, A Job Well Done

ICE Unleashed by SCOTUS

Thank you, Justices Elena Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Sonia Sotomayor

Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented and was joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Sotomayor wrote, “the Court finds the idea that thousands will suffer violence in far-flung locales more palatable than the remote possibility that a District Court exceeded its remedial powers when it ordered the Government to provide notice and process to which the plaintiffs are constitutionally and statutorily entitled.” Link

x This is what heroes look like: History will record, in the fight against the authoritarian fascism of Trump and the sycophantic enablers of the Republican Party, Supreme Court Justices Sotomayor, Jackson, and Kagan stood tall in their defense of the United States constitution. pic.twitter.com/YQkqiWIQLh — Bill Madden (@maddenifico) June 28, 2025
