Call It What It Is: The Big Murder Bill [1]

Democrats need to use stronger language. Remember republicans constantly referring to the inheritance tax as the “Death Tax”?
The bill cutting Medicaid and SNAP and closing hospitals WILL kill people. And since it is being done knowingly by the republicans, it IS murder.
So we should always refer to it as The Big Murder Bill.
Criticism of the bill should also highlight hospital closings because they are the easiest to connect to dying and the hardest to refute. I understand that bill now contains a $15 billion slush funds to support rural hospitals, but that will go only to states where current republican senators are up for reelection in 2026. AND it looks like it’s only enough money to handle a portion of the problem.
I have a friend who has cancer and lives in a rural area that is already underserved by doctors. Because she’s in a blue state, this bill may put her nearest hospital at risk of closing its doors.
Yes, the biggest murder weapons in the bill may be the parts that throw people off their health insurance, but, when it comes to messaging, it’s a little easter for republicans to blow smoke regarding these provisions, saying, “No one who is deserving of care will lose their health care.” Which is a total lie, but it still gives them fertile grounds to obfuscate.
Hospital closings are harder to hide and shrug off. Yes, key red states may get a partial reprieve from the slush fund, and of course the real killer parts of the bill are set to kick in only AFTER the 2026 midterms. But hospital closings are still more concrete and easier to appreciate.
So I’d say, definitely talk about lost health coverage and SNAP benefits, but really emphasize the hospital closings.
And call this deadly piece of trash what it is: The Big Murder Bill.
