The Supreme Court Is Getting Played, And Black and Brown Families Will Pay the Price

Let’s stop pretending. The Supreme Court hasn’t simply lost its way, it’s been bamboozled, strong-armed, and steamrolled by a Republican machine bowing at the altar of Donald Trump. This isn’t about law or constitutional integrity anymore. It’s about power. And at the center of it all is one deeply ugly truth: the attack on birthright citizenship would not be on the table if it didn’t involve Black and Brown babies.

Make no mistake, this isn’t about policy. It’s about prejudice. If we were talking about blonde-haired, green-card-hopping Melania-types, this wouldn’t be a Supreme Court conversation. It would be a People Magazine cover story.

But instead, we’re watching an all-out assault on immigrant families, spearheaded by a political cult obsessed with controlling the demographics of America. And the Court? It's not resisting. It's enabling.

The very idea of revoking or revisiting birthright citizenship, a principle enshrined in the 14th Amendment after the Civil War is offensive to history, to decency, and to democracy itself. It's yet another dog whistle-turned-battle cry for those who believe America was meant only for some, not for all. And who’s being targeted? Latino families. Black immigrant communities, Asians and anyone who doesn't look like they stepped out of a Norman Rockwell painting.

Let’s be clear: birthright citizenship is not broken. What’s broken is the spine of the Republican Party and the blindfold on a Court that’s supposed to be above partisan manipulation.

Donald Trump doesn’t care about the Constitution. He cares about headlines, fear, and division. And now, he has too many black-robed cheerleaders willing to rewrite the rules if it helps keep him relevant, or worse, keeps him out of prison.

We can’t sit this one out. This moment demands more than outrage, it demands organized resistance, political pressure, and a refusal to let our children’s citizenship be treated like a campaign prop.

Because if birthright citizenship can be stripped from them, who else is next?
