Supreme Court rules partially on birthright citizenship and nationwide injunctions - Trump happy [1]

The Supreme Court has ruled 6-3 that being born in one of 22 states or individuals or organizations that were party to the suit, that part of the injunction is still in effect. That's just on birthright citizenship. The real nature of the ruling is on nationwide injunctions.
The injunctions to Trump's attack on birthright citizenship now only apply to groups, individuals, and the 22 states that sued.
Amy Coney Barrett wrote the opinion for the majority. I'm surprised she didn't break with Trump on this one. It should have been a 9-0 decision against Trump. "When a court concludes that the executive branch has acted unlawfully, the answer is not for the court to exceed its power, too." What an amazingly idiotic thing for a Supreme Court Justice to say. She just said that Trump acted unlawfully, but they won't stop him. The answer should be directly stopping him. That's not exceeding their power, it's doing their job. There were scathing dissenting opinions by Sotomayor and Brown.
Trump immediately got on Truth Social, salivating at the win.
"GIANT WIN in the United States Supreme court! Even the Birthright Citizenship Hoax has, indirectly, been hit hard.."
It's really about Nationwide injunctions not being able to be granted by US District Courts unless they're done as a class action lawsuit. The "indirectly" is what I described above about Birthright citizenship.
"It had to do with the babies of slaves (same year!).
No, it was about granting citizenship to all Black people, not just their babies. What he means by "same year," I have no idea.
"... not the SCAMMING of our Immigration process."
It was not a scam. It's the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. It's been clear as a bell what it meant for 150 years.
"Congratulations to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Solicitor General John Sauer, and the entire DOJ."
It is not over, yet. All the states that had not sued as part of this case, can go forward with their own to allow birthright citizenship. In a sense, the Trump Administration lost because the injunction stopping Trump in the states that sued is still in place. That's 22 states. This is far from over.
Trump can file to get rid of nationwide injunctions.
At the news conference Trump once again railed at "Radical Left judges," as he has been doing all along when he has been thwarted.
The decision is really about nationwide injunctions issued by one of the U.S. District judges. The Supreme Court held that nationwide injunctions in their current form no longer exist. For a nationwide injunction to occur, it has to be a class action lawsuit which is much harder to reach because of procedural hurdles.
What does this mean to existing injunctions? That is not entirely clear. District Courts could send cases back to lower courts to ensure they are "no broader than necessary to provide complete relief."
Probably the best immediate analysis of the 119 page ruling is at Marc Elias's Democracy Docket.
There are/were currently 25 nationwide injunctions if effect.
