Welcome to the Street Prophets Coffee Hour cleverly hidden at the intersection of religion, art, science, food, and politics. This is an open thread where we can share our thoughts and comments about the day. Let’s start by looking at some glass art.

The Museum of Glass (MOG) in Tacoma, Washington is the West Coast’s largest and most active museum glass studio. Since 2002, MOG has hosted more than 350 artists in the Hot Shop where they have the unique opportunity to experiment and explore aspects of their work. With an average of 40 Visiting Artists per year, MOG has one of the largest museum residency programs in the United States.

According to MOG:

“As a glass artist, it is not always affordable to find a studio to produce work. Glass, especially color bars can be expensive. Production is often devoted to making commercial work, leaving precious little time for artistic development.”

At the MOG Hot Shop, Visiting Artists are able to bring their ideas into fruition. As a part of their residency, artists donate one of the pieces they create to the MOG collections. Shown below are some of made at MOG items displayed in the Hot Shop balcony.
