Justice Served as 80 Year Old Man in Prison for 50 Years Put to Death [1]

I don't know anything more about this story than what I read here.

This certainly doesn't seem necessary to me. In fact this is the most ugly side of our society and it appeals to the darkest side of humanity, the side of fear and hate.

State sponsored murder is on the side of fear and hate. Fear that will keep you in your place. Fear that if they don't kill these people you won't be safe. And hate to make you beg them to do this.

I'm glad that all states aren't doing this. But the hater states got to hate. Personally I don't support the death penalty for any reason. Now personal retribution I can understand and may have served our ancestors well. But State sanctioned murder helps no one but repressive governments.

All that said I find it interesting that they don't find a 79 year old man too old to execute.
